In hindsight I bet you now wished you never posted this after tonight's developments:
http://www.autoweek.com/article/20130731/F1/130739975 Bild: Ferrari offers Kimi Räikkönen Formula One seat for 2014: As the old saying goes "there's no smoke without fire" .... so Ferrari need the Iceman to put out the fire .... ![]() There is always the option for Ferrari to have both Alonso and Kimi in the team. Massas contract is up at the end of the season. Anyone remember Kimi doing some PR work, when Montezemelo turned up. Montezemelo sent his man to go and get Kimi. Kimi basically told the guy to FOff as he was busy and Montezemelo has to wait until he is finished! You got to love Kimi

A Ferrari spokesman denied talk of a rift. Isn’t this the same as, "The Secretary of State has the full confidence of the Prime Minister?" "The president is 100 percent with Alonso," a Ferrari spokesman told Manuel Franco, the correspondent for Spanish sports newspaper AS. "Montezemolo is the first one to support the call of our driver to improve, as soon as possible, the competitiveness of the car," he added.

Unfortunately like The S*n it's Sports coverage is it's strongest suite.
Besides this time last year they were the first to report the ridiculous story of McLaren Lewis Hamilton to replace Michael Schumacher at Mercedes. Initially most F1 experts thought it was ridiculous as 1. Mercedes would not have the balls to tell Schumacher to call it a day + backlash from Germans and sponsors; etc; and 2. Hamilton would be crazy moving from McLaren to the (then) underachieving German team; when he'd be better off leaving it a year when more spaces became available at the top teams. It was only some 48 Hours later when Eddie Jordan said this story had legs that the media began to take it seriously .... |

Given the spaces being left at RBR, Ferrari and Lotus, that might not have been the worst advice to have been given.
If only Hamilton had Foresight |

But who could predict that Webber would leave RB, causing the musical chairs we have today.
If only Hamilton had Foresight Hamilton and Vettel doesn't make sense either really... he's best at Mercedes for another couple of years, racking up Pole's and proving he is a class driver in a car that doesn't have the backing of the others... when Ferrari finally move for Vettel in 2 years, or the just move Alonso out a big drive will come up. |

Looks like we might not be getting an Indian Grand Prix next season although losing one race would make it easier to fit the Austrian back in which I would love to see on the calender for 2014. Bernie also wants to make it 22 races to include Russia and New Jersey but I can't see the teams wanting to stretch the season any more than it is now.

So do Red Bull go for two competitive drivers In the team or do they go down the route they have now, which is pretty much Vettel and a n other who they won't really support but as long as they finish in the points for the constructers championship they are not really bothered as long as they don't stop Seb from winning.
I would love to see Kimi or Alonso in there as there would be some real fireworks, but maybe they will plump for the safe route to keep Vettel happy and go for somebody like Daniel Riccardo and tell them to do as their told. |

Is this a n other the driver who so nearly won the WC and since then Seb has had to run him off the road, had the team deny him upgrades and make his car unreliable (eg KERS) to stop him being a threat?

You seem to be confusing No.1 status with supporting the driver thats in the lead. |

He has been driving in a simulator, thats about as its got in an F1 car. He seems upbeat about his chances of driving in F1 again. I dont think he will ever be back in a F1 car, but you never know. Which is a shame, as he was a talented driver.
Dunno if things have changed since then. Fingers crossed, eh? |

it seems you have no idea about the situation at Red Bull. Vettel does not have No.1 status as you seem to think. The reason why he gets preference is because hes the one with the points lead over Webber. If Webber was the one leading, then I am sure Red Bull would get behind him.
You seem to be confusing No.1 status with supporting the driver thats in the lead. Sort of "Why would Hamilton/Alonso/Raikkonen ever go to RBR to be #2 to Vettel?" Thing is, no F1 driver thinks they aren't as good as another driver. I bet even Karthekayen used to tell himself that if he was in the RBR he'd be world champion. Any worthwhile driver who is considering going to RBR will be assuming they can out-race Vettel and earn themselves the #1 status. Sure, there are people at RBR (yes, I'm looking at you Dr Marko) who'd get bent out of shape if Vettel got beaten but I doubt there'd be much they could do if that was the way the wind was blowing. |

Last I heard, a few months ago, was him saying that he didn't think he'd regain sufficient movement in his wrist to drive a single-seater.

TBH, I think people get themselves into a "catch 22" situation when it comes to considering RBR.

Is Vettel a favourite of Marko, because of who Vettel is (as a person), or because he is the one that has brought the titles? If Alonso/Kimi went to RBR, and produced titles, would he be angry or would Alonso/Kimi become the new favourite? Quote:

You seem to be confusing No.1 status with supporting the driver thats in the lead. It's not hard to see that Vettel seems to be favoured with pretty much every word that comes out of Christian Horner's mouth - even when he has a distinctly average race he gets showered with praise, whereas even when Webber wins there's a very muted 'nice job' type of reaction. The only top team which doesn't have a clear 1-2 situation currently is Mercedes. |

I think that's a very naïve view of RBR to be honest

Ahh you must be talking about his karting days ![]() Funny you should mention Merc, remember the British GP? Nico won, Hamilton finished 4th. Brawn was gushing with praise for Hamilton - he didnt even mention Nico - who won the race. I even commented on it at the time. At least Horner gives a muted 'nice job' when Webber wins, more than what Brawn could muster. Then there was the the time, Nico was told to stay behind Hamilton, even though he was faster. Whilst there is no outright proof - these incidents do make it look as though Merc lean towards Hamilton. |

![]() The thing is that Vettel doesn't have the challenge from his team mate, so do RBR try to bring in the likes Raikonen or Alonso or do they take the route of a young less experienced driver. |

I hope they go for Kimi. A Vettel/Kimi would be an awesome team. Not so keen on Alonso. I am not a fan of Alonso, just dont like him, hes way to dodgy for my liking. |
