Seeing as the themes are basically 'sing what you want', choose 2 songs for each contestant!

James - Skyscraper by Demi Lovato (to show his vocals, obviously he can arrange it as he likes) / Heartless by Kanye West
Jahmene - I Wanna Hold Your Hand by The Beatles / Vision Of Love by Mariah Carey (idk what else I want him to sing and he'll do at least one screamy female ballad)
Christopher - You Raise Me Up by Josh Groban / You'll Never Walk Alone (to stop him ruining anything else)
Union J - Paradise by Coldplay / Domino by Jessie J

Union J: Rihanna - Te Amo & Taylor Swift - Mine
James: Mumford & Suns - I Will Wait & Original song
Jahmene: Beyonce - Best Thing I Never Had & Gospel song
Christopher: It actually doesn't matter what he sings *sigh* Cher Lloyd - Swagger Jagger & Little Mix - Wings to address the haters...oh and both have to have AMAZING CHOREOGRAPHY.

Couldn't James sing one of his own songs for once?

Something to do with gospel/soul could suit Jahmene.

I agree that Chris should do 'You'll Never Walk Alone', but for his second song I would also like to suggest 'There's No One Quite Like Grandma'.

Not sure what the others should sing.

I'd like Chris to complete his journey with a tribute to Black Lace. Either Wig Wam Bam, Agadoo or I am the Music Man (or all, and more, in a medley) Audience participation optional.

I think if James sings one of his own songs, and nails it, he books a one way ticket to the final

No, as a general rule, you need to sing songs that the audience know and like and do them very well. The broader the appeal of the song, the better. Gary Barlow understands this, much to the annoyance of the other judges, and it is precisely what has worked so well for Chris. He has covered songs that 90% of viewers are familiar with and has done them straight (rather than steal an arrangement from Youtube/Live Lounge and try to pass it off as his own) but really well. Singing a song you'd written yourself, even if it happened to be a good song (and let's face it, that is unlikely) would be disastrous.
