Amazing Songs that Flopped
Rachel Stevens - Funky Dory. The follow up to the #2 hit "Sweet Dreams My La Ex", released in December 2003 the amazing Funky Dory managed a peak of only #26. It's a great song I just don't understand how it flopped

The biggest one that sticks out to me is Silly Boy by Eva Simons. Utterly amazing pop stomper that could have been a hit but it just didn't happen. It peaked at something like #148, I predicted a huge #1 smash at the time!

For me, it has to be Benediction by Hot Natured And Ali Love, which recently got to something like number 39 a few weeks ago and then sank without trace. Shame, as it's such a great song!

Britney - Hold it Against Me, Till The World Ends, I Wanna Go, Criminal
Got some recogniation but no where near what they deserved. I guess it comes down to lack of promo. |

Let It Go by Alexandra Burke...an upbeat motivational song with great vocals....a shame it only managed #33.

Robyns Indestructible and Hang With Me from Body Talk. Two AMAZING tracks. I class Body Talk as one of the best pop albums of the past few years. Flawless.
I will also suggest Madonnas 'Girl Gone Wild'. Although I completely understand why that whole period flopped on it's arse, I thought GGW was one of her best singles since Sorry. Should have done much better. She had better pull her finger out for the next album! |

Seeing the video a lot on the music channels and elsewhere at the time, I expected Regina Spektor to have been able to achieve a sizeable mainstream hit with Fidelity, but it stalled outside the Top 40. The video still looks great six years on too, surely it must have gained notice and appeal at the time.

Criminal is the most innovative Britney song in years, and the video could have been this amazing take on a fairytale, where Britney was rapunzel or whatever, but instead we got some crappy London thing.

I Wish I Never Met You- Sam Sparro
Such a beautiful song and I never really understood why it, and Sam in general, wasn't massive. |

The Silence - Lexy Burke.
It pains me that a masterpiece ballad like this didn't get the treatment it deserved. Should have been the second single instead of Broken Heels. |

It was meant to be the 3rd single after Broken Heels, she even filmed the video then, but Syco changed it to All Night Long at the last minute. The Silence is a beautiful song with amazing stunning vocals I agree, but I think Perfect should have been released instead of it.

Over 20 years on,I'm still gutted that Army of Lover's Crucified stalled at 31 rather than being massive like in Europe

Sebastian Ingrosso & Alesso ft Ryan Tedder - Calling (Lose My Mind) - #19 Ed Sheeran - Small Bump - #25 Lupe Fiasco - The Show Goes On - #49 Bonnie Raitt - I Can't Make You Love Me - #50 Death Cab For Cutie - I Will Follow You Into The Dark - #66 Green Day - 21 Gun - #36 The UK Charts I refer to here by the way. I have no idea how successful these songs were in the States. All I do know is that the Green Day song I mention got to #1 in Poland, so well done fellas
