I wondered that, but I think it must be in relation to a cut Cheryl scene.
It really does feel like they are both trapped. Doug knows he is fighting a losing battle, but doesn't want to admit defeat so early on and Ste still doesn't really have the confirmation that taking a leap of faith with Brendan will benefit.
Ste just needs that moment where Brendan tells him, because he wants to and no other reason. I think Doug needs Ste to finish things, because he also doesn't have that 100 certainty that Ste doesn't want him.
I honestly buy into this more than I had recently and will continue to if we get some more arguments!
I need to know what relevance the cross has as well. I was clear he didn't have it today!
