At least it wasn't a picture of Brendan's new business associate Liam.

Must be. It'd make sense because he tweeted someone from Hollyoaks and said he'd be back this week.

It's ok. He's having nipple fun with Doug. Maybe. If we're right.

Doug doesn't have fun. Or nipples. He has knitwear.

He's well used to it with Craig.

Afternoon all,

Just saw the 'punch' spoiler- disappointed doesn't cover how I'm feeling.

Even if Brendan wanted Ste to leave, I'm certain that now he'd make it happen without violence, it's so counter productive.

It seems as if we have good HO writers and bad ones, these bad ones obviously don't support the message that can be conveyed with their relationship.

With the exception of Ste hitting Brendan (in which case I can deal with it), I'm almost certain that Dublin will be a temporary thing.

Classic Hollyoaks, great plot ideas, poor execution.

Rant over.

This has probably already been proposed on the thread (excuse my laziness at back reading), but the only way I can deal with the punching thing is this:

Brendan in his office after hearing that Ste is leaving for America. Breaks down, throws something at the wall or whatever. Someone comes in to see what's going on, Brendan lashes out, shoves the person away, tells them to get out, etc. Then in a total rage just smashes up the office, a person comes in and, like, I don't know, touches him on the shoulder or something in an attempt to start calming him down, Brendan's all "RAWR I told you to go away!" thinking it's the same person as before, turns and swings, then realises it's Ste. Cue epic apology & guilt & horror.

Anything else and I'm done with Stendan.

I may need to write fic now.

What bothers me about a scenario like that is, as Sarah mentioned last night, Brendan's not able to keep his temper under control. Which doesn't bode well for his and Ste's future.

Whereas an ill-advised attempt to make Ste leave, would at least show that Brendan's not just reverting back to how he used to deal with his anger.

But that would still mean that we end up in the uncomfortable situation where Brendan loves Ste so much he punches him. God knows what HO are trying to show with this.

I blame God, Maya.

This has to be some sort of last ditch attempt for Brendan to get Ste out of his life for good because he genuinely believes he's no good for him and doesn't deserve him and the deal probably comes into it.

And he knows the only way Ste will give up on him is if he's violent.

It's how Ste learns this and what he does is the key thing. I have faith though. ES said she'd never reunite them until Brendan had changed. And he has. This isn't him being a thug. We hope.

It's needlessly dramatic and omg!shock of them but it doesn't change Brendan's development to me.

Tell me about it. Brendan's leaving the village, Ste's leaving the village. Keep your fists to yourself, Brendan. Now we know it'll be in Soap Scoop, we'll get some suitably horrific pictures to freak out over, I'm sure. And the biggest OMG of all, they reunite a week later regardless.

Oh Hollyoaks.

But yes, if it goes down the way I expect it to, it's not going to change Brendan's development for me either. It's Ste's POV I'm concerned about, but as I said yesterday, I'm going to wait and see how it plays onscreen.

I don't think we should dwell on the subject of what might happen until the episode, or at least until we see what Soap Scoop has to say on Saturday. We just have to hope this is not something to do with Brendan losing his temper and purposely lashing out at Ste as that will just knock him a number of months back in his recovery and I don't care what anyone says, he has come a long way since Later.

We also have to look at the facts too. We know that Dublin is real and they will kiss on that bridge, run off happily together and then will carry on to show their affection for one another the day after. Ste also has nothing wrong with his face there, no bruising at all and he didn't for the airport before Dublin either. Also, remember SDay's friend who saw them filming the lead up to Dublin too? She saw no marks on Kieron either.

I just hope Hollyoaks knows what they are doing here

Yes, that's true. I suppose my reasoning is that this scenario shows he's human I guess -- even the most mild-mannered people lash out now and then. I don't for one minute believe Brendan would ever hurt Ste again but neither do I think he'll ever be totally violence-free.

However, I do agree with your point and it would be a step back in his character development.

Yes, me too. I really don't think they'll have Ste be weak and beg for another chance or anything like that. I hope he puts it on the line and tells Brendan to grow up and stop using God or violence as a reason to separate them when he has changed, he could be happy.

Agree.

I honestly don't think this will be him lashing out, or worse still, something like January.

I do think he'll do it deliberately but not due to his temper but as a purposeful act to get Ste to realise that Doug is the "better" choice.

And Doug is the "better" choice but Ste doesn't love him like he loves Brendan.

On a lighter note, I'm not sure if this has been posted, but I hadn't seen it and it made me smile:

... – and that Ste is alive! Hurrah! But will he choose suddenly-gay Doug or Brendan? Personally, my money’s on Brendan – those two are like Romeo and Juliet (if Romeo was a moustachioed psychopath and Juliet was a chav); Star-crossed lovers united in tragedy, abuse and passion. It would be beautiful if it wasn’t Hollyoaks.
From here.
