You know, with this punching spoiler (which I frigging hate but I won't rant about it now since everyone's else has said more or less everything I was going to say), I wonder if, when Brendan has his inevitable breakdown, Cheryl says something to Ste about how Brendan reacted. Maybe she hints that he's going to commit suicide..? It sounds really mental but I've been wondering if they'd take Brendan down that route for a while. Because if you think about it, he has nothing much to live for. He says he's a terrible father, his kids are better off without him, his sister is better off without him, Ste is better off without him etc. Joel is in prison. He has the club, but he also has Walker after him (who wants to hurt him by hurting the people he loves), and if Brendan is dead then Walker can't hurt him. It makes sense in a way.

And Brendan is so full of self-hatred as it is, it wouldn't surprise me. Plus, he also attempted suicide before (after he was rejected by Pete). Perhaps Cheryl is worried, finds a letter from him or something like that. Ste is also worried, Doug realises how worried he is, he gets pissed off about it, all the tension about Brendan comes to a head at the airport, etc.

That's just my two cents. I don't want to speculate too much, but that's just one idea. I'm done now.

If the Esther plot s building to suicide as people are speculating though, I can't see them going there with Brendan.

Hello, just a couple of questions

The punch spoiler, do we think both parts of the spoiler come in one scene, or played out at different times during the episode/week? Also, will they be appearing in the order that the spoiler suggests, or could the puch come first?

If it is Ste who hits Brendan, then depending on how the spoiler plays out I think this could happen:

Firstly on Tuesday 11th Dec the spoiler says 'Doug pushes Ste to the limits' what if the 'limits' are him lashing out and (accidentally) hits Brendan, Ste would be 'stunned' that he has just done it accident/on purpose or not, he will automatically start freaking out and apologise to Brendan, who will then tell him it's fine etc, now either Ste will stay and they'll talk or he'll leave but come back on a different day and talk, obviously Ste will either say or make it obviouse that he wants Brendan to ask him to stay, but Brendan won't as he doesn't think he deserves him etc, and will tell him to be with Doug as he must love him because he married him the conversation will end wih us all realising Cheryl has heard the conversation. This fits in with the Cheryl spoilers, and it also makes sense why Ste chooses Brendan and goes to Dublin.

I know it's still a punch no matter who's done it, but if Ste is going off on one to Brendan about Doug and he gets that worked up that Brendan tries to calm him down by touching him (not in that way) then Ste could accidentally catch Brendan's face trying to get him off.

From what we know about Dublin and what's to come after it has to be Ste that hits Brendan, right?

This is quite plausible and I can see them going down this route, who knows. But even then I'd hate it cause I don't want Ste being with Brendan because Brendan might commit suicide, especially if Brendan does hit him.

I did wonder when we first got the spoiler if they were gonna make Brendan do something something after the punch, i.e attempted suicide. But I really don't think there's time for that, and I can't see them going there now. He's probably just gonna do a runner to Dublin and drink himself to death until Ste comes at his door

Oh yeah, yeah, I didn't mean like an actual attempt I mean an intention to go to Dublin to kill himself rather than like it was with Doug's suicide where he actually jumped off a bridge. I'm not sure if I'd like it or not (in terms of story, obviously sad!Brendan makes me sad too) but I could see it happening, or at least doing something with the intention of never seeing anyone he loves again, whether that's through running away or attempting to kill himself somehow.
