Helen and Marilyn Monroe

I only noticed last night that she had a tattoo of Marilyn Monroe on her arm, so I’m guessing must be a fan (why get a tattoo of her otherwise).

All the pouting and the dumb blonde act makes me wonder if she is trying to epitomise Marilyn Monroe in her behaviour. MM was hugely successful on screen using the same sort of traits that Helen did in the jungle. I can’t help thinking maybe Helen was trying to play that role in the jungle but couldn’t pull it off.

I was thinking exactly the same. Good thing no one had a birthday in there.

You may have a point there, OP. What should be pointed out, however, is that MM had a brain in her head whereas Helen, aka Rosie Webster, has shown no signs of such a human organ. Most of MM's onscreen scatty female personas were just that, onscreen personas and scripted. Helen's scatty and vain persona is real and incorporated into her alter ego which was Rosie, a scatterbrain who can't detach script from reality.

If Helen is aiming to be a MM, why? MM's life was a tragedy from start to finish.

It's a tattoo. Loads of people are fans and have MM as a style icon, it doesn't mean they are trying to be her.

Still, why not project a load more crap onto Helen, eh.

That's true, MM had serious mental health issues and addiction problems. Nobody in their right mind would want to be her.

Absolutely. And Marilyn had a vulnerability which added to her appeal. She was utterly adorable and one of the few women that could captivate both genders.
