Will my cake still be fresh ?
Last Friday, I made this cake :
http://www1.picturepush.com/photo/a/...24%2C-2012.jpg It's a Victoria sponge cake with walnuts, filled with walnut buttercream, covered in buttercream, and covered with fondant. Will it still be good to eat tomorrow - that's when the recipients birthday is - or might it be stale ? |

Based on the expiry date of shop bought cakes, it should be fine until end of this week. Looks lovely, cannot waste it!

The fondant will have protected the cake inside from drying out so it should be fine.
Lovely decorating job, BTW. |

how have you stored it ? If air tight then you should be OK and even if not then as fizzycat mentioned the fondant may have protected it anyway.
And you can't base it on the expiry date of shop bought cake which will have added presertive and packaged in air-tight packaging. |

Thank you for your compliments !
![]() It has been stored in a normal cardboard cake box with cardboard lid, probably in a kitchen or back room. I made these from the same ingredients as the Birthday cake, and they are still delicious today, so I'm thinking that the Birthday cake will also be fine ! http://www3.picturepush.com/photo/a/...24%2C-2012.jpg |
