Would a civilian version of the show work?

I suppose it would depend on the casting...otherwise it would run the risk of being Big Brother in the jungle. I would apply!

I think it could however to make them do some of that stuff the prize money would have to be a lot much more than BB gives out.

Plus it would last about 2 months I guess

I think it would be better with civilians. What a great idea!

If they were to do it, I think they'd be better to do it once every two years and straight after the celebrity version. Big Brother is a fine example of what can happen to a once ridiculously successful reality series.

Sorry to double post - but the bit in bold makes me think that if people are actually auditioning for this to happen to them, they are more than aware of what they are letting themselves in for - more so than celebrities.

I agree but I think more would apply if the prize fund was better some others may want to do it but don't think it's worth the money if it was say the same as BB.

I'd rather they kept civilians out of I'm a celeb. The civilian Big Brother is ruined and I think I'm a celeb would be ruined too.

it would be interesting but it would be big brother in the jungle eating creepy crawlies

I'm a civilian get me out of here! doesn't sound so good somehow.

I don't think it would work TBH, there are still plenty of z listers left who would love to do it I reckon.

They could call it "Fear Factor"! And it could be dismal!

Or they could do a UK version of "Survivor" and have something worth watching, FFS.

We already had Survivor, it didn't last long.

Well BB is pretty dull these days. They don't make the contestants do enough for the prize money. A camping version might be quite amusing.

Well said, Survivor is such a better format of a show then IAC in my view as it rewards those who succeed with intelligence, tactics, guile and strategy instead of innocence and stupidity. Reality TV in this country needs more Richard Hatch's and less Brian Belo's.

I think at some point they had a version of this in Australia. I remember it being on late night TV a few years ago and they had a poundshop version of Ant and Dec hosting. It was called 'I'm an Aussie get me out of here' I think

'I'm a Celeb...' was originally the celeb version of Survivor. It's such a shame that Survivor didn't seem to be well received and was binned after 2 shows. I loved it and thought it was one of the best reality shows that has ever been done. Obviously I'm in a minority though.

I think 'civilian' BB is still great, far more intense than celebrity big brother, let alone the (not intense at all) I'm a Celebrity. By the end of a series you feel as if you know the housemates better than your own friends. But I'm a Celebrity is not set up for that at all: it is extremely, almost totally, task-focused; we see only occasional snippets of the kind of minute by minute interactions of people relating to each other. Half the time it is only on eviction interviews that you even get a hint as to who gets on well and who doesn't.

Would get half the ratings though, part of the appeal is seeing celebrities covered in shit.
