Everyone goes on about Rylan being popular, but once the voting for each week is released it will show him getting through by the skin of his teeth each week.

Doesn't matter whether he was first or one away from the bottom, if he got through every week then he got through.

Doubt it. He'd never been bottom votes either, and we still don't even know if he was last week.

He probably had a rebound in week 2 and other than that he was probably only really safe in week 6. Don't think he was that close to the bottom two in any of the other weeks though, bar maybe week 7.

Obviously he wasn't that popular. He was in the sing off three times.

I doubt he'd be near the bottom (of the voting, not the anatomy) the week he did the Spice Girls. The production was great, it was like the Olympic ceremony, and he got one over on Borelow about his weight.

Wagner and Jedward - our other recent joke acts - survived a long time but were always in the bottom half of the votes every week. They were both lucky to survive so long.
But then look at the twins now - they have made shedloads! I expect Rylan similarly rarely did that well. |

He was still there regardless of where he placed for a lot longer than most thought he would be. |

I think he would be quite high up in the voting the week he did the Spice Girls songs.

I guess you have to say that those who didn't appear in the bottom two, were popular enough to not appear in the bottom two, so had some popularity, even if it wasn't with the highest votes! It doesn't matter if they got through with the skin of their teeth, they still got through and had enough popularity to get them there. I say this as a non UJ or Rylan fan! |

Rylan had his supporters and I'm one of them. The final is going to be a very boring one. It's just a struggle to the end now for the remaining contestants.
Rylan would have provided an unpredictable finale. Christopher will probably win and show people that the X Factor is now a dying programme. |

But haven't Union J been in the bottom two, three or four times?

Wouldn't surprise me if we found Union J at the very bottom/hovering over bottom 3 every week. |

This time next year Chris will be hated for ruining the X-Factor and Rylan will be celebrated for giving us the most memorable performances on the show ever.

Union J are the only act who have ever been saved in the singoff this year. The judges voted to save them over Jade, District 3 and Rylan. Every other act lost to a deadlock - Carolynne, Melanie, Kye, Ella and MK1 - so these were the bottom in their week.
Wouldn't surprise me if we found Union J at the very bottom/hovering over bottom 3 every week. |

True. It's too soon to try to churn out another group of males that females will scream over for a few weeks. As much as I see potential in them (granted, it would take tons of marketing), at some weeks I can't help but compare them negatively to 1D at the same stage of the competition in 2010.

It was totally lame when they saved Union J. I'm sure they can bring out a pop record (a la Louis Walsh style) but the market is very saturated and since the gay bloke came out - I don't know how mad the girls will be for the remaining three ultimately. That George is such a soppy mess.
Also, two years ago, I learned the names of 1D and matched it with the faces within weeks (not deliberately, mind you; it just happened). Now, I still don't know the names of the quiff guys of UJ (I think one's Josh but I'm not sure). |

I thought he came out to get the "gay pride vote", which may or may not exist.

Yeah, that's true, I guess they could pick up fans that way. Jaymi is the best singer out of them. It does not help that their names all start with a J!

George should change his name to "Jorge" so UJ will get the Latino vote... oh wait, that's the US election.
