I think it's because this is the only show they currently do where they can be funny. With the number of links etc it gives them a chance to mess about.

Although I do like them on BGT as well - they have good banter with the judges.

I have always known them to be such a bland and uninspired set. But I must admit they have been pretty good with this series. Don't know if it's because the series has been good so the good feelings naturally flow or if I'm really just enjoying what they are doing here because it's a vast improvement over what I've seen in the past....

...but yeah I agree, they've been alright.

I agree.I consistently hear TV commentators saying that those two make the show worth watching. Personally I've never found them funny and could not see what all the fuss was all about where they are concerned.

However they have made me smile a few times this year, which is more than they've done any other year.

I agree. I found Red or Black boring within a few minutes, can't stand talent shows like X Factor or BGT and didn't really take to the Saturday Night Take-Away show (although some bits of it were very good but not enough to sit and watch all the way through). Left to their own devices, I think Ant and Dec would be much funnier than they appear to be on a lot of shows they end up on. They probably get sick of hearing it but I do think they should take up being the new Morecambe & Wise type of show where their comedy is the main focal point.

When you say 'funny' I take it you mean 'mildly amusing'.

Ah Ant n Dec.... The format of this show is perfect for their comedy, the little links and snippets with their banter and cheekiness ...TV gold, I am still laughing at Ants comment to rosemary during her interview last night referring about her bikini clad dingo challenge, " we nearly had to go pay per view there...!"

Well, amazingly, I am still really enjoying Ant & Dec.

They've been on many other shows that were just crap (eg. "Red or Black?"). And they've been on other shows that I kind of liked (eg. "PokerFace"). But they've always been, as I said in my first post here, quite irritatingly just corny and slick and tolerable.

I think they'll be able to look back on this series as the-good-old-days.

Although it's scripted they can pull it off. Who else would be better than them? I really can't think of anyone. They have made me chuckle a couple of times.
