Louis Walsh gets over 400,000 in damages.

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-europe-20524505

It is right that when he was defamed he should get compensation,

When that young man from Boyzone died Louis was crying and very upset, I just find that a man in his 50s crying over a man in his late 20s that is not a relative just a tad queasy!

What say you?

I find it very odd that you find it strange anyone would not be upset that a friend and colleague who passed away at a very young age.

Its hopefully human nature to show grief and sadness for a loss.

Not at all. Louis had known Stephen since he was a teenager and considered him a friend as well as a member of a band he managed. Plus, Stephen's death was tragic and unexpected and he was young. Frankly, I'd have been more suprised if Louis hadn't been upset.

Very stressing for someone who's looked so happy and lively on X-Factor week after week. I suppose it can hit people in different ways. The accused has since been jailed.

Yes it is absolutely right he should get compensation... especially considering the role the paper took in actually taking the lying little sh*t to the police station to make a formal complaint and paying him for stories... six months wasn't long enough for what he did.

As for the second question you obviously have a problem with LW or absolutely no compassion... do you only grieve for people based on gender and age?

Louis Walsh never had anything other than a professional relationship/friendship with Steven Gately for many years. It would have been strange if he hadn't been upset at the death of a close friend, considering how emotional he gets when he has to bin one of his acts on X-Factor.

The S*n, shower of evil, immoral scumbags that they are, in a continued policy of queerbashing went after Louis Walsh and paid a man who lied about Walsh assaulting him. There has NEVER been any impropriety surrounding Louis Walsh and his relationships and when this story broke, I was hard pressed to find anyone who believed it because it sounded so out of character.

Don't get me wrong, Walsh has committed many crimes against music but I'm delighted for him that his good name has been vindicated, the lying accuser imprisoned and the shitbags who encouraged and published the lies are out of pocket to the tune of several hundred thousand euros, including hefty legal fees.

I'm no fan of Walsh or Boyzone, but the only thing making me queasy is your very cold post.

I say don't you watch X-Factor? Every week some youngster dies on stage and Louis cries when asked to cast his vote.

What a ridiculous comment. If a friend and colleague of over 20 years died suddenly and tragically you would remain stoney faced and emotionless would you?

What a despicable post. Stephen was as good as a son to Louis, he knew him since he was a teenager. Of course he would be absolutely devastated at his death, more so because of the tragic circumstances surrounding Stephen's loss.

As for the case against him, Louis was interviewed on tv not that long ago and it was brought up in conversation. He could not discuss it due to the impending legalities, but all he did say ( and very very emotionally) was that he would never forget what they tried to do to him. The tosser in question who made up the story had already got his comeuppance, but it was now the turn of the gutter press who fed it.

I think it almost broke Louis in two when such total lies of such a serious nature were being bandied about. Its only fair and proper that he should be compensated handsomly for the anguish and stress that he and his family suffered as a result.

Your disgusting post has made me feel beyond queasy, what an unpleasant person you must be to know. Also, poor Stephen was in his 30's when he died, not 20's.

Stephen Gatleys death upset me and I didn't know the bloke. Surely most people with any human empathy would feel sad about someone so young and full of life passing so suddenly?
The fact Louis had known him for 15 years or so must have devastated him. It's not even like he'd been ill and his friends and family had time to prepare themselves. He was literally there one minute and gone the next.

Anyway, back OT - Glad that Louis got compensation for this. It's been an open secret for years that he's gay but he has a private life which he doesn't bring to public attention and good on him for doing so. The media must have loved the fact they thought they could finally out him and so deserve whatever sh*t they get thrown at them over this.
Maybe one day they'll learn their lesson and realise that you can't just say WTF you like about people and get away with it.

Why don't they concentrate the muck raking on those low ranking celebs who wouldn't know privacy if it smacked them round the face, and are happy to have their dirty laundry aired in public, and leave everyone else alone?

Are you actually being serious? Louis was like a father to Stephen and they were quite close. They worked side by side for years, I really do not understand why you think it is weird he was upset when Stephen died? Would you prefer he laughed or something?
And FYI I dealt with Louis a number of times he is a gentleman. And Stephen was too. Try thinking before posting such shite
