Hi All,
Is the version of the new R2 Robocop (Trilogy) DVD the full "uncut" version ??
I remember reading that it was coming out but can't remember if it was on R1 or R2 .
Thanks
Paul

Apparently all 3 movies are finally uncut here in the UK on Region 2.

Yes the R2 release does include the unrated directors cut with the extra gore. This is first time seen in a UK release.
As disk has seamless braching can choose to watch this or the standard theatrical version

Is Robocop 1 DVD Uncut the same as the Laserdisc version.

I used to have a copy on VHS but something bad happened to it .

If it is, what's different?

Hmmm. Coincidentally I watched the Criterion edition tonight - it is very /very/ gory - I believe someone once told me that the totally uncut print was illegal in the UK under the obscene publications act at one point - not sure if this was bullshit or not though.

No idea if it's the same print as is now being released in the UK, but the new UK version certainly is more-uncut than robocop ever has been in the UK before. I suspect it probably will be the full uncut version, given how the BBFC have recently been adopting a more moderate position on what can be done under the 18 certificate.

Personally, I believe there should be a non-sex equivelent of an R18 under which /anything/ can be released, provided it is not illegal. Have it with restricted distribution like R18, where it's only sold in places where you have to proove your age just to enter let alone buy anything, but importantly have it AVAILABLE for people who want it. Then also have 18/15/whatever cut versions for normal shops and people who don't mind or don't want the full uncut versions.

But hey, that's very unlikely to ever happen.

Mark

well i just bought it yesterday and must say I am slightly disapointed, the adverts said "The future of DVD" well i never saw anything on the disks that is new, everything has been done before.

I watched Robocop with the directors cut version and never noticed anything different from the VHS copy i have, the gore was just the same, his hands, shoulder being blown off ect.

as i said disappointed so far.

Oh there are differences. One is the first ED-209 scene in the boardroom. The shooting goes on much longer than it originally did, including more shooting while the unfortunate Mr Kiney lies on the model of Delta City.

Also, in the scene you describe, originally you didn't see Murphy's arm getting blown off, the final shot the head was differently shot and in the directors cut there is a longer gap with more suffering by Murphy until he is finally killed.

Just be happy you don't have to put up with the awful ITV version that includes Mr Kiney stumbling backwards due to ED-209 pushing him back with a blast of air, well that's what it looks like without any blood.

Just waiting now for the Uncut Fight Club with the 4 seconds of Jared Leto being pummelled put back in. Like 4 seconds of blood is going to corrupt us!

Get he R4 disc of fight club for the uncut version. It's identical to R2 (i.e. lovely PAL picture) only untouched by BBFC.

Has anyone else found that some of the menus don't work very well e.g Deleted scenes, Trailers. I have to key them in on the remote to access the chapters. A slight annoyance but not the end of my world.....

I've had no probs with my copy of robocop. However, the "seamless branching" isn't exactly seamless its quite jerky as it switches chapters. The directors cut is a lot better than the original - just for the few gory extra seconds. Robocop2 was quite enjoyable to watch again as I haven't seen it for a while, but I dont think I'll watch Robo 3 for a while though!

Yep, my deleated scenes menus stuck too. I watched them on my PS2 instead, no probs. I'm not going to bother swithing disks or anything as I'm sure I'll never watch them again.

Where is the cheapest place to buy Robocop Trilogy ?

Just seen it in Costco in Leeds for £24.49. Any good internet sites to buy from at a very good price ?

It depends upon your make of player. Some are having problems refusing to play etc. Mainly affects Toshiba of the major brands and also some of the minor makes as well. Therefore unless you change players, swapping disks is unlikely to help.
