Spin off shows they can make more money with some people than others.

For example a reality show about the day to day life of Eric may not get as many viewers as one about Charlie or Helen.

Ashley is American so they can only use her for a limited time before she has to go home and any show made over there would need special documentation and the crew would all need visas ect

You know it's a slow news day when these sorts of stuff appear on the front pages of the tabloids. Whilst a number of questions arise in my mind around why Eric is spoken of by all those who come out of the camp as an affable and yes even caring individual it's going a bit far to make headline news out of it and I think we are getting out of proportion the seriousness of this show.

There is no doubt in my mind he doesn't deserve some of the character assassination comments uttered on DS via trial by television His acerbic comments have been one of the more entertaining aspects of the whole series and have actually got him this far. Much to the chagrin of the morally outraged.

The standard of "journalism" is tragic nowadays. Where were all these know-it-alls when Savile was alive?

I havnt read the article but if the BIB is true then she's got a bit of a cheek. I was only thinking yesterday her treatment of Hugo was borderline bullying. She singled him out to nag at, criticise, humiliate and just generally nit pick and rant at! There was a couple of times when it was really uncomfortable to watch.

I do think they have edited Eric to appear worse than he probably is - although they didnt put words in his mouth! Both Colin and Hugo have said how much he helped and supported them in there though so there is definitely a side of him we havnt seen. Maybe he's a bit of a chauvenist?
I actually could see similarities in Rosemary and Eric - they both see the faults in others and are very verbal about them but apparently see none in themselves.

What have they been doing? Getting look-alikes into a parallel universe jungle camp to say things about Helen's spots and her dad, and then broadcast them pretending that the real Eric said them??????

OMG... no wonder his lawyers are outraged...

The way I see it is that if you don't say the things then they can't be broadcast / edited to look worse than they are...

Back on Eric, has any reality tv show contestant ever successfully sued the producers of their show over bad editing? We've heard it threatened before but it's never ever gone anywhere.

I don't think anyone is saying that at all.

However you can build up or knock people down by what you show.

A lot of the people who have come out have said what a good bloke he is and how much hard work he does in camp. But that is not the impression you would get from watching the ITV1 programme or the slagging off he gets on ITV2

When Gino DiCampo won a few years back he got a very positive showing on the shows but once it was all over there were reports on the bits that had been left out and the monumental stroops he had. So what you don't show can have just as big an impact as what you do show.

Bearing in mind Charlie will be returning to Eastenders in the New Year (she took 6 months off in August), can't see ITV doing much with her if she won either.

I think his son and agent have just drawn attention to it, whereas Eric himself has moved his image on from that and shown another, more decent side of his character so it wouldn't have impacted on his wider portrayal.

I often ask this question when people make claims that the programme is fixed/manipulated for a certain person to win. NEVER yet received a reasonably plausible response.

Just saw a bit about it on This Morning and they did make it appear as though Eric's family really are angry at how he's been portrayed.

No - article says manager threatened to call lawyers. Spokesman says no instructions sent to lawyers and ITV say not heard from Eric's lawyers. Just a typical waste of time attention grabbing newspaper headline

I would agree 100% with this (BiB) but the meanest thing that he has done, in my eyes, was his attack on Helen's skin and her dad - and I was NO Helen fan.

I think, and have stated before, that those contracted to ITV get the most positive edits.

There is joking [banter] and just being plain rude. His comment just was plain rude to Helen, when she explained about her skin [her father had the same problem, that it was passed on in the family] he started on about her dad. To get a laugh out of putting somebody down in front of others, to me is wrong.

Generally a joke to put someone down is to big yourself up .It often backfires .
