OK i know this is a very ood topic...but who does everyone prefer if they had to chose between them?

I've always been a blur fan-the way they reinvent themselves for every new album. Damon also seems to be musically talented. As for Oasis the two front men are vile and all their music sounds the same.

Rant over!

What does everyone else think?

Neither, can't stand the sight or sound of either of them.

I like them both

Wasn't the whole blur vs oasis thing kinda concocted by the press anyway?

blur by a mile. i haven't liked all their stuff, but their albums have mostly been quite different from each other, laterly a million miles from "parklife". not something you can really say about oasis, who rarely these days match the first two albums.

didn't they once say they'd have said/done everything with three albums, and would stop there? perhaps they should have.

Hmm. On balance, weighing everything up, and comparing the output from both bands, I'd have to conclude that this was debated to death about 9 years ago.

Wasn't Pulp's Different Class a great album.

Whilst the Blur v Oasis debate was going on in 1995, a band from Oxford released the album of the year.

"The Bends" by Radiohead

(ps. Oasis for me. A higher % of "classics", IMO)

The album of the decade even!

Oasis for me too. They haven't been consistently brilliant but when they've been good, they've been good!

Oasis are clearly the better band, vocally and lyrically.

No such thing as "Blur vs Oasis". This was a media concocted story to boost sales of thier papers.

Incidently, Oasis were the better band, but they are a bit past thier sell by date now.

You are having a laugh right?

Blur are the far superior band. Don't get me wrong, I sing along with the best of them to some Oasis tracks when wellied but Blur shit all over them. Noel isn't 1/10 the guitarist that Graham was. As for vocals, you honestly think that Liam is a better singer than Damon? You obviously haven't seen Oasis live recently as Liams voice is screwed.

I suppose they are clearly better is you enjoy listening to music that has got progressively worse over the last 10 years and they are still living off their debut album.

Nope. I'm not a fan of either of them but Oasis have produced better music than Blur. Simple as that really.

I realise music is objective and everyone has their own opinion but that quote amazes me.

The last 3 Oasis albums have only had about 2 good tracks on them combined.

Haha. For someone that isn't a fan I find is strange you have listened to Blurs entire discography.

Ach well, looks like the general consensus has gone against me. No idea how though.

I suppose that opinions are like arseholes, we all have one.

Oasis are doing their UK Tour next summer and have sold over 330,000 tickets so far. Only the Southampton midweek gig has any tickets left.

Not bad for a band who many say are past their sell by date!
