Bruce Springsteen's Wrecking Ball was the best album of 2012... and the song "Wrecking Ball" is the best track of the year, can't understand why it's not been released as a single.

This year has definitely been a year for the old timers. We've had comebacks and reunions and new releases from presumed defunct artists.

Springsteen and Neil Young have had strong new albums, the Stones are back on tour and my personal top 3 are all "old" bands:

Godspeed You Black Emperor - Hallelujah! Don't Bend! Ascend!
Ultravox - Brilliant

and my favourite by a mile:

Swans - The Seer

an astonishing 2 hour tour de force which will no doubt be riding high on many indie / alternative end of year lists.

Now this is why I still hang around these forums.

The Swans album had somehow passed me by this year but having seen your post I thought I'd check it out, and it sounds great - so have just bought it. Nice one!
