Did you notice the moon last night and did you think it looked particularly bright?

Probably because we haven't seen it for ages due to the rain clouds.

If you can see the moon tonight, get your telescope or binoculars out and look at the planet next to it. I believe that it's Jupiter and you can see it's moons.

Yes the moon comes close to Jupiter once a month just now.

Makes a nice triangle with Aldabaran.

Me too I love looking at the planets. In a small telescope you can see the moons of Jupiter as well

I thought that had been destroyed by the Death Star?

It was beautiful. In London, it looked like something out of a thriller/scary film.

It was very bright. It was also the fourth full moon in as many days according to my daughter. Took à while to convince her it really wasn't.

I am glad that you all agreed it was a nice bright moon last night. You see last night was a micromoon as opposed to a supermoon (the one that the newspapers go on about.

But then there is not likely to be much currency in looking at a micromoon.

So see Super Moon v Micro Moon

I did spot Aldabaran to the right of the moon.

It was a spectacular sight.

I was looking at the moon while playing a video game called To The Moon, watching a film called Moon, listening to a cd called Moon Safari and being mooned by someone called Mr Moon outside my window that is moon shaped.

It was a very moony evening, thanks.

Coz, if he touched the outside of his spacesuit, putting it on, if it stuck to the fabric, and then he went outside, if some of it then fell off onto the dust of the moon...

I commented on the Moon and Jupiter last night too

Slightly off topic but those of you with android phones should a have a look at Google Sky Map.
It's a clever little app that will show you the names of stars, planets and constellations by simply pointing it at something in the night sky

Ive got skymap - saturn was downstairs in the lounge last night .

I do like the time travel bit on it where you can look at where things were or will be on certian dates.

I thought the empire blew that up.

Seriously though, I have been enjoying Jupiter and some very decent views of Orion for a while now.

This reminds me to fire up Stellarium to check what planet was in the SE sky this morning.

I missed it, and I'm sorry I did as I usually make a point to look at the full moon. There is something so mystical about it.
