Dog Owners.....What do you feed your pooch for their main meals?

.

I'm very interested in what you feed your dogs, not treats but main meals.

I raw feed, but if I need to feed kibble then I used Applaws or Orijen, Barking Heads in an emergency.

For wet food, I'll use Chappie if Diz has a dodgy tum, otherwise Naturediet or Wainwrights tray

I feed raw/natural, never the same two nights in a row but always with fats in the morning, carbs at night. Evening meal is usually raw or cooked meat with a wholemeal mixer or rice/pasta/potatoes.

I am feeding raw too. There are lots of suppliers for this, chicken/beef/lamb whatever minces plus we feed chicken and all sorts of other meats, plus fish and offal.

Christ it must cost a small fortune!!

I'm asking cos she currently gets Pedigree chum tins and Bakers complete but I want to switch her to a better quality.

I got her some Wainwrights pouches the other day when she came out of the vets and she seamed to love them a lot more than Chum and I've heard Chum is full of shite

One of my dogs has fits, and I found that carbs can bring on fits, and I looked into all commercial food and found they all have lots of wheat/barley all sorts in and not a lot of meat. So we thought, we better go natural and see how he goes on it, have to say all my dogs love it. I have 2 freezers full of their food. Buy lots of stuff in the reduced section in supermarkets too. As hubby said, the dogs eat better then us, lol

I think if you want to feed commercial food, Chappy is actually very good (tins and dry), low fat, Vets recommend it and its cheaper then lots of other dry food.

Chum and Bakers are awful

Orijen is about the best dry food but you pay for it. It is biologically appropriate - meat and veg - no wheat, rice etc. Dogs don't need carbs like we do and it is just filler in other dog foods which is why they are cheaper.

If on a budget, I would recommend the Wainrights Salmon and Potato.

Good on you looking for a better food - your dog will appreciate it!

Due to allergies we cook for ours now, minced lamb, mixed veg and baked potatoes.

Mine has a plate of fresh chicken and Applaws wet food (fantastic quality food but rather expensive) dried food he is on Hills D/D which has its fault but has helped with the issue he uses it for so am happy to continue with the brand.
