Apparently Nicole's envy of Ashley Roberts caused PCD to split says ex-doll.

And the second album didn't do that great so its not that surprising they split up
It's strange really because I thought 'I Hate This Part' from the 2nd album was by far there best song.

It apparently sold 5 million worldwide, however the first one sold 9 million. Solid sales for both really.

I do find it funny that The Beatles are recognised as one of the greatest bands ever but you never here their songs on the radios.......probably cos their music is awful.

I'm sure it hasn't sold more than 2 million worldwide

I got that from wikipedia hence my "apparently"

I suppose even 2 million isn't too bad either considering.

Not as awful as your PCDs and the Xfactor rubbish that this generation have been brought up on.

With the Beatles I want to turn off, with PCD I want to turn it up and sing along (may 'dance a bit aswell)
That I can understand. I felt the same way about listening to music from back in the day, and preferred bands and artistes of my time. Things move on.

However, without the Beatles and others of their time, PCD may not have come into being, or if they had they may have been totally different.

The Beatle's music was groundbreaking, that's the point.

PCDs may have been entertaining, but they were not groundbreaking, no matter how enjoyable people found them, they didn't create a time, a rush, a sheer groundswell of social and cultural change for their generation.

I do think Pussycat Dolls were one of the best girl bands of our time but the Beatles were also on another level and iconic. Both are amazing for different things. I don't listen to The Beatles but I know they're legendary and left their stamp on music. Can't compare either.

Not only did she hog the vocals she got her own tour bus and changing room while the others shared, they really were glorified backing dancers.

I couldn't believe it when Ashley said they weren't allowed to speak during interviews, they just had to sit there and look pretty (which they did very well )
Which isn`t entirely true

She said that's what they were told to do but mostly ignored it iirc.

So no untruth about it.

It went like this;

Ashley: "We were told to be quiet, only Nicole could talk".

Charlie: "Only Nicole was allowed to talk?"

Ashley: "She was supposed to - we would pitch in every now and then".

Its pretty much common knowledge, I'm surprised so many on the forum dont know why PCD split and the rules of the band during that particular iteration. PCD still exist as an entity its just that all of the members from that iteration have left., Its all explained on their wiki page.

`She added: 'Even in the group I wasn’t allowed to talk, we were told to be quiet. Only Nicole was allowed to talk, we would occasionally pitch in.'

Read more: http://www.metro.co.uk/showbiz/91940...#ixzz2DfHVsRtc

However from those interviews - they more than occasionally pitched in - perhaps it was early days before the rift formed?

Every girl has there insecurities about themselves. Nicole is absolutely stunning as is Ashley but maybe Ashley intimidated her. idk.

Maybe because Ashley has more going on for her than merely being "stunning" looking. Great personality, charm, insight and quite possibly a brain. These things can all be acquired (unlike natural beauty) so there was absolutely no need to feel intimidated.

They were around for a while.

What surprises me is Kimberley Wyatt has said she has not got a great deal of money. Did she waste it all or did she actually not earn much?

They had worldwide success for 8 years, must have made a mint from record sales, sponsors, merchandise, appearances.

I did not know a whole completely new PCD group has formed.
Its a myth that everyone who has a few hit records is loaded. Ashley may not have even sung backing vocals on the actual recordings. The people who earn the most are the songwriters. As a back up singer and dancer Ashley was probably on a wage which may have seemed OK at the time but certainly would't be enough to retire on!

I wish her luck for the future and hope she does manage to get an acting career off the ground.

Yes nothing new in that at all. A lot of big groups from the past got ripped off by a record company or manager.Even if signed up on million dollar contract etc most of the money goes on videos and other expenses. If the artists don't write their own songs they can end up with very little as a wage. Then of course they also have to remember to pay the taxman otherwise even bigger problems can come their way

Agree. Also will people still be talking about the PCDs in 50 years time like they are the Beatles. I dont think that anyone who wasnt around in the 60s/70s would understand the impact they had on the music world. I was teenager in the 60s and I am proud of it. Certainly the best decade of music. I'm not an old fuddy duddy though - I do like alot of what is currently popular.

The Beatles are great I have everything they ever did and John Lennon is my favourite singer of all time (Freddie Mercury is a very close 2nd though)

Kind of strange logic.
Maybe their music is just too special to be played on any run-of-the-mill radio show?

Personally whenever anyone slates the Beatles I always think of it as an insult against all music, since they are the most important band in history.

Good heavens, why on earth would Nicole be jealous of Ashley?
Because Ashley's nice and people like her, and Nicole is......not?

I don't think they will be getting talked about in 2-3 years they were just another girl band off the assembly line nothing good or special about them.

Same goes for modern boy bands every single group looks and sound exactly the same.

Yes I totally agree.

There are so many cover versions of their music - they have written hundreds of songs and they definitely changed the face of the music industry during their hay days.
