Yes I totally agree.

There are so many cover versions of their music - they have written hundreds of songs and they definitely changed the face of the music industry during their hay days.
I agree like with the singers and groups today's music is all the same you can hardly tell the difference between one song and another they even appear to have the same tune and very similar lyrics

Not everyone likes the Beatles, not everyone likes anything in the world. Because I was born in 1992 obviously I wasn't born when the Beatles were around. I think their music was good, but I do think they are overrated. Personally I find a group such as Shalamar more uplifting. And everyone has opinions, most will obviously think The Beatles are better than PCD, but some people think PCD is better than the Beatles. It's about taste. I personally like both for different reasons.

No one should be looked down upon because of their love for a certain singer/band over another more frequently mentioned "loved" band.

I don't know about Nicole but the others just got a salary, like any regular job. No royalties etc.

The management made a killing out of them.
I think Nicole got the majority of the money she said in a interview not long ago that she usually recorded the albums by herself then when it was.done they got the other PCDs in the studio and add backing vocals

Of course everyone is entitled to their opinions and to like whatever music turns them on. Comparisons between groups of the past and groups now are pretty pointless but whether you like the Beatles or not it is a fact that they contributed a huge amount to music. They gave the world a vast body of work something pretty much unrivalled by anyone today. The music industry has changed immensely in the last 20 years and it will be very difficult for any band (however good) to replicate their success.

That's true. You can't really compare bands from different decades. Even Spice Girls and Little Mix are a stretch even though they are only 2 decades apart, compared to The Beatles and PCD who were 4 decades apart.

But obviously as I said, people don't like The Beatles music maybe just genre wise, not personally. Just like people in general don't like slow and sad songs or even sad films.

I do find it funny that The Beatles are recognised as one of the greatest bands ever but you never here their songs on the radios.......probably cos their music is awful.
Not one of the greatest...The greatest.

As I said, not everyone likes the same thing. IMO they are far from the greatest, but neither is any other act in the last 10 years. I would put a lot of 70s-80s bands ahead of The Beatles.

Hang on a minute...

Nicole’s an exotic beauty ... but her envy of blue-eyed blonde Ashley caused Pussycat Dolls to split up
Doesn't Ashley have brown eyes?

I don't think you're quite grasping how radio works.

It wouldn't be so bad, but that was the headline.

She's on telly every night staring into a camera, with her brown eyes, and they can't even manage to get that right.

Veh veh lazy journalism.

It may have already been talked about in this thread but it amused me that, after this story came out, Nicole raved about Ashely on the spin-off show. Someone was worried about her image!

Nicole is just ..yuck.. Can't stand her.. She's a diva and attention hog...

I think when the PCD's were formed -- they were formed because the record company / Ron Flair knew that Nicole Z wasn't marketable on her own.. so they needed a gimmick and the burlesque dance troupe fit the bill... Nicole wanted the spotlight though and once they had a little fame... She couldn't stand sharing even a second of air time..

That's just my opinion from reading about them through the years...

Ashley is beautiful.. She is a great dancer.. a great singer.. she has a great personality.. she's sweet, likable, approachable.. She has charisma and appeal and seems REAL... A lot of qualities which come naturally to her.. These attributes can't be "learned" -- you either have it or you don't.. And in my opinion, Nicole doesn't possess them..

Nicole's a diva and lacks charisma and depth....which is why her solo career was a big fail...

I wanted Ashley to win.. but I am happy she made it to 2nd place..

Having heard Ashley say that she was sad that her relationship with Nicole had "petered out" it was interesting that Nicole jumped on the IAC bandwagon and phoned the show to support Ashley!

Lol, Ashley was on a trashy tv show, not attempting to reach the South Pole! Nicole rang in at one point, just like a few of the others' friends and colleagues. Having said that, Nicole probably did hear about Ashley's negative rant about her and wanted to balance things up a bit.

I wasn't born when the Beatles were around either, but once I started actively 'researching' music and examining the influences of the artists I loved and listening back and finding the radio stations that DO play the Beatles (oy vey ) I came to understand quite how remarkable they are. I also figured out, as you do, that so many songs that were hits right through the later decades of the 20th century were either direct covers of or thinly veiled tributes to The Beatles music. Oasis, anyone?

Thinking the Pussycat Dolls are BETTER than The Beatles is not a matter of taste. It's a matter of musical ignorance. A seminal band that changed the face of modern music is in an entirely different category of assessment to a bunch of burlesque dancers singing about wanting boobies.

The Beatles will always be relevant because they were one of the acts driving the immense change in the late 50s and 60s. THAT was immense change. I see very little difference between the music now and the music of the 80s. In the last couple of months alone I've heard a One Direction song that's a direct rip off of The Clash and a Bruno Mars track that's a complete replica of The Police's sound. All music is derivative to some extent - but what The Beatles and other musicians of their time did was almost completely new. That hasn't happened in quite some time. Urban R&B/House/Rap etc. has been new since and if you want to compare the groundbreakers in those genres to the Beatles that would be a fair comparison.

The best music doesn't have to be groundbreaking (The Killers are virtually nostalgic, but they're still one of the best groups around at the moment) but the groundbreaking music is always great.

I'm more of a Rolling Stone man myself.
I prefer the Stones to the Beatles - but prefer John Lennon solo to both, if that makes any sense.

Instant karma is my favourite Lennon song.
