Corned beef hash.. yummy

Corned beef, in large oven dish with onions, small potatoes, peas, and oxo cubes and water, and some brown sauce, cook in oven... that is heaven....

i don't like eating beans on their own, and corned beef is just plain wrong. so i'll take the secretive 3rd option and go for pizza

I'm not sure if I could eat corned beef on its own, but I do like corned beef hash and make it regular. Does anyone remember what David's attitude was to the corned beef? Like or dislike?

She would have had trouble bringing back chocolate in that heat and without anything to carry them in.
I dont think they would melt that quickly she could have put them in her pocket or used her bandana- to be honest I can't remember what she was wearing or Eric for that matter- I just thought it odd she ate them all- still I like her a lot and hope for either her or David to win

If the corned beef had come out of the can in a solid way and could have been sliced it would have been more appealing- but it did look like dog food! Ashley was full of chocolate anyway so probably was not hungry - and- she didn't bring any chocolates back for David or Charlie - I found that a bit strange and a tad greedy

As I recall they're not allowed to take anything away from the task site (otherwise why not take the famous pizza back), so .... get it while you can.

We have a dish called pan-a-cal-tee (no idea how its supposed to be spelt but its basically corned beef stew) its corned beef potato and a stew pack ( onions carrots turnips and parsnips) chopped up in a big pan with gravy.Great to dip bread into on cold winter nights.

I love Corned Beef and also like Baked Beans - I don't think either of them were particularly good prizes though. I'd have probably gone for the Corned Beef but then would have been disappointed as like someone said earlier in the thread what they had looked cheap and horrid.

Baked beans and corned beef.all mixed up together!mmmm
I agree, corned beef hash is lovely, so are corned beef fritters, but it has to be the good stuff, cheap corned beef is like a sludgey paste, even my cats wouldn't eat it.

I used to love corned beef in sandwiches, until I read something about what goes into it. Now I can't stomach it.

I find them both disgusting I might've managed beans. I'd probably just not had either though tbh.

Either. Yum yum.

I would probably have gone for the beans, but only because I can imagine eating a plate of beans with nothing else, whereas I find it hard to imagine eating corned beef with nothing else.

But both are just fine by me.

I like them both too. After being on such a restricted diet Id be chuffed with either.
Id have gone for the beef as it could be incorporated into the rice and beans for flavour and would go further.

I love corned beef hash with beans and brown sauce.. its blumming luuuuvverly

I thought Ash and Charlie were like a pair of spoiled kids over the CB...... all the crap they've done and they were quibbling about canned meat. Silly mares!

Corned Beef. Lovely stuff.

No matter how hungry I was I hate beans so much, the other camp mates could snarf them.

I sort of felt an empathy with Eric during the whole show, he wasn't fussed about the ice cream, nor Ashley snarfing all the choccies. I would have been the same, ice cream, chocolate, meh.

But corned beef, he was a happy bunny

They get given beans every day with their rations. Why have more beans as a "treat". I like baked beans but I wouldn't want to eat them on their own. I like corned beef but as a change I'd have chosen it if I was in that situation.

I was surprised Ashley didn't know what corned beef was. Maybe if Eric had told her it was canned meat she might have got what it was. She seemed worried it might not be cooked or might be off more than anything.

It all depends on the quality of the product. Heinz baked beans are the dog's bollocks ... but some are just awful. Fray Bentos Corned Beef is quite (in fact very) nice - especially in a nice corned-beef hash or home made meat and potato pie - whilst Princes Corned Beef doesn't quite hit the spot.

However - THAT corned beef that they had looked of a particularly poor quality. I've never seen corned beef look that pale or sloppy! Maybe they just don't have access to decent corned-beef in Oz that we do in the UK.

They could have mixed it with cooked rice, salt and pepper whch they had and made it into patties then fried them.

It looked too sloppy to do that though! I feel sorry for Australians if that is the corned beef that they are used to!

Maybe due to the heat, if when opened it was poked about for five minutes or so ?
