I really cant believe how fast time has gone...with all the negative spins on the MDNA era...a lot did happen!

I do hope for album 13 and the next era we do see more of Madonna rather than confined a lot to specific interviews...i di miss her not being on magazine coverage, televised routinely interviews bar the Beeb for W.E and Norton of course....really have missed Madonna tbh But i do wonder if perhaps when the MDNA DvD/CD is out then she will promote it and maybe confirm album 13 or not and future projects etc

No great source but wiki have a Upcoming concert dvd as a March release date. I hope it is true. March will mark the one year anniversary of the album, plus it's my birthday.

I think it's unlikely Madonna will promote the MDNA DVD. Once she decides an era has ended, it's ended. I seem to recall two occasions where she became unhappy with a particular era. Firstly "Music". After WIFLFAG she just thought "f*** it! I'm done!" After American Life she abrubtly disappeared. I think and HOPE that she draws a line under this era and comes back stronger and more dominant. I do believe though her time for selling millions of albums has come to an end.

Loving your taste

And a thorough welcome to the Madonna family...keep keep it together!

Thats epic! So like a Madonna album a month almost? Thats genius! And i love the proof there that COnfessions really did pull a lot of new fans in...so powerful....Brilliant, how old are you may i ask? I am 20 (21 next month) love the variation in ages too
Hiya,

Yup, Confessions was my first Madonna album and it is still my favourite (well tied with Ray of Light). I LOVE LOVE LOVE Bedtime Stories, which is odd because I'm not at all partial to R&B. And I'm also very fond of Erotica and Music.

I'm turning 18 this month, so I suppose I would considered to be on the younger end of the fan spectrum

It really does depend on how it all goes about....i mean the whole era of selling millions of albums has come to an end really....i mean to get a years best selling album all you have to do is be around the 3-4million range...something Hard Candy managed to get 5 years ago and just make it into the top 10.

I guess it is down to material and how much it is out there and everything, this is a different musical era what matters is the quality of the music....whether it selles millions and millions or not is another matter down to culture itself really She may and/or may not.

And i guess it depends on marketing again when the MDNA Tour is released i do reckon it will be like S&S and just be out there for the sake of it But who knows? Maybe there will be an announcement or something

Ah cool some of us posted our favourites in some sort of ranking order...all her albums are in my top 50 of all time thus far!

Its funny you mention Bedtime Stories as I am also not really a fan of R&B yet BS has gone so far up in my rankings i feel now...again Madonna suits so many different moods and tempos it is fantastic!

Ah cool 18 yes you are older than a couple other fans on here i know of however

Speaking of the Musical Climate changing/changed and response to "millions not being sold" the death of HMV is very significant in this matter!
Anyways here is a pic of fans outside almost 10 years ago when AMerican Life was unleashed and Madonna did a "secret" gig in HMV London

Freddy DeMann was Madonna's manager until 1991. And, don't forget, Madonna had a very close friend before. But she dismissed her without batting an eyelid.
Its just not going to happen and no offense wizzywick but you are always posting stuff in here as fact despite never giving a source, you were the one telling people her album was going to be called Bitches and Boardrooms way back in 2011. Which I doubt was ever true.

If you are claiming to have inside sources then name them.

Ah cool some of us posted our favourites in some sort of ranking order.
If I were to rank her albums in order of preference, from most to least favourite, in this very moment in time, I think it would be:

1. Ray of Light
2. Confessions on a Dance Floor
3. Bedtime Stories
4. Erotica
5. Music
6. MDNA
7. Madonna
8. Like a Prayer
9. Hard Candy
10. American Life
11. True Blue
12. Like a Virgin

I imagine that, perhaps apart from the top entry, my list is rather atypical, for example with Madonna's older, 80s material featuring quite low on the list and perhaps with Bedtime Stories featuring so high on mine.

It's funny, I just never really connected to her 80s albums (as of yet at least). 90s Madonna is my favourite

I'm also quite shocked at how high MDNA is on my list, since I do think it's about 50% filler. I do love the 50% that I feel isn't filler quite a bit though

You're not alone, I don't connect as much with her 80's albums either. But I would put American Life much higher than you and Bedtime Stories much lower. BS is too R&B for me. For me probably my favourite period was late 90's through 00's. I love ROL, Music and AL. During that time she still did pop music, but with more an edgy groundbreaking sensibility.

Like A Prayer at number 8  tut tut....kiddin, it is my favourite and hopefully in time songs on LAP and even AL ou ranekd close with it will come and grow with you too

It is interesting seeing your list too and rankings...always find it interesting at how different the (now) 12 albums are placed and ranked.

It makes sense with your kinda Dance theme too for your top bunch although Bedtime Stories does stand out a bit from that crowd Will be itneresting with time how you feel about the albums too...i know apart from my top two there is overlap and changearounds a lot on my list but as i say all Madonnas albums are in my top 50 ever

I love to think of ROL, Music and AL as a trilogy ....i think its easier to place them then for me after Like A Prayer and Erotica i love the trio equally really...Music gets such a harsh time...but in itself its possibly one of her most pivotal albums...what with her move to the UK as a permanant decision, her birth of her second child, her son Rocco, her teaming up with Mirwais as well as Orbit from ROL previously, bringing Monte Pittman on board in 1999 to record the album as well as a young unknown Stuart price onboard for her "Drowned WOrld Band" that time ....not to mention that actually bar American Pie all the sonvs are perfection..the fusion of Electronica/Psychadelia/Techno/Trance/Country is just all kinds of chaotic mayhem and total perfection....plus the Techno elements brought groups like Daft Punk more into the spotlight much like she did for Bjork prior to that...owed in her debt.

Also funnily enough before she released ROL she signed The Prodigy to her Maverick label....so many infamous bands/groups owe Madonna a lot of debt in more ways than one....they all speak fondly which is slick as however

I think thats the divide with my Madonna albums though...the idea of blurring styles/concepts/ideas into one massive conceptualised album of spontaneity and inspiration to tell a story...I love that....Like A Prayer, Erotica, ROL/Music/AL, Confessions On A Dance Floor....i think that is my main divide of those 6 albums from the other 6 perhaps....i dunno

But thats definitely showcasing what id love for her to venture and explore for album 13....just really let loose, have fun, mix stuff up again...i loved the idea of no two sonvs sound the same on MDNA, but the execution was just a tad disjointed...not to mention (i know bore you all now lol) the lack of a genuine concept/image/reinvention to showcase to the world.

I don't claim to have inside sources, never have done. Bitches and Boardrooms was a name doing the rounds in 2011 within the music magazine industry. I have already said that my cousin works for a music magazine. Well she did. She left in November to work for the Express Newspaper group so I won't have anymore "predictions" anyway.

For the record though, MDNA only became the name following a conversation with M.I.A during recording sessions of B'Day Song. Madonna really didn't know what to call the album. And it is partly due to her lack of inspiration that resulted in the era being severely disappointing.

No need to be so narky.

Like A Prayer is definitely my all time favourite album by her. It's the album that made me a super hard core fan. Erotica has its moments and I know it's a cult fan favourite, but it doesn't quite blow me away like it does for some other fans. Maybe it's too club oriented for me. It's funny how fans say Madonna shouldn't do as much electronic, club and dance oriented music. Have they heard Erotica? It has a few slower songs but it's very beat heavy and clubfloor oriented for the most part.

Wow, I am still being ignored on here and I made my first post on in here ages. It's like being back in the playground on this thread. Seriously, what is up with some people on this forum. Do you all hate me that much?

I am stick of all the bullying and alienation on here, and I bet it's all under the control of Josh Pinder, which is nothing new.

Hell yeah

And Erotica is very misjudged....i dont find it too "Club" influenced really but i do love the fusion of House/Jazz/Funk/Lounge/Trip Hop across Erotica. Plus i love the idea of exploring darker and more intense territories and the picture Erotica paints...its a tour de force record in and out..sublime But thats what makes us all different...and as you say gigi That is how it can be perfected, its the measure of Dance influenced styles with introspection and concept too...it is brilliant

Love this gif from the Confessions Tour..."the face of you...."

Speaking of MIA...oh how i wish something a bit Indie style came out of a partnership between them rather than 60s Pop throwbacks...while fun....hmmm....but glad MIA worked with M at least initialisation proved to be a great throwback for Madonnas controversial/humorous titles (Immaculate Collection = Conception etc...brilliant!)

BIB: Actually, I disagree. The album title MDNA may have caused more "wtf is that" style reactions in a negative fashion rather than positive. In hindsight for the first time ever since I have been a Madonna fan, asides from the tour, there has been nothing creative or genius about the MDNA era.

Really? i thought the overall reception was positive that it was a bit of a elft of centre clever title for it meaning genetics, her name and the drug...aint no big thing...wait for the bell to ring

I still have to see W.E speaking about creativity being absorbed in it....will put it on my Bday wish list

Has anyone heard this before? It's a rock influenced version of Sorry. I guess it was recorded for possible inclusion in the MDNA tour. Sometimes I don't like her rock reinventions, but this is really cool.
