Really? i thought the overall reception was positive that it was a bit of a elft of centre clever title for it meaning genetics, her name and the drug...aint no big thing...wait for the bell to ring
![]() I still have to see W.E speaking about creativity being absorbed in it....will put it on my Bday wish list ![]() It is easy to remember the reaction when MDNA was released last year. It was expected to be huge. Therefore there were lots of positive comments. However a year later, in hindsight, the whole MDNA concept was ill thought, ill advised and very uninspired. Madonna is so capable of so much more. I only hope that this last year was a blip. |

Has anyone heard this before? It's a rock influenced version of Sorry. I guess it was recorded for possible inclusion in the MDNA tour. Sometimes I don't like her rock reinventions, but this is really cool.

Well, the overall reception from critics was positive. But when it came to the record buying public that was a different matter. While her fans bought the album and enjoyed it (largely), the casual record buying public were not excited by any of it.

Yeah i do know what you mean...I think its all part of people understanding what the concept and feel for the era is beforehand, and there was nothing to do this bar word of mouth which didnt work...its a year on and as Oseary said...non-traditional...ask him in a year about it...i think questions must be asked and answers must be given in the shape of album 13

Live To Tell definitely is a song nleft unmixed....Like A Prayer too...although i do love the S&S Rave feel behind it....but its all down to how it translates...whereas others like Express Yourself have similar performances live and suits reinventions from steampunk march, disco posse, army/militant, guitar driven and Cheerleader/bandstand
But damn i would adore ROck god Madonna I loved those aspects of the Music promo and AL promo...love more of that! Album 13

''Life is a paradox. If you want to be saved, you’ve got to go to hell first. If you want to affect change in the world or cause a revolution in any area of life, you’re going to upset people. So some people will view what you’re doing as honorable, something to be admired or something good. And other people will look at what you’re doing as negative, bad or something that needs to be punished. And that’s the beauty of life - everybody sees things differently - but if you want to be a revolutionary you have to be prepared to make enemies.'' - Madonna -

Just saw Burtons "Dark Shadows" film from last summer with Depp/Pfeiffer/Carter etc and MAN its a brilliant film (not quite up with his masterpeices but damn its close!)....but what I love also is the soundtrack to it...the psychadelic 70s feel by Danny ELfman (scored many Burton films...namely his Batman films and Batman - The ANimated Series YAY!) and the scores....check these sounds out..
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7rkgm1yGgbM http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zImSS...FaCfhA&index=1 ...anyways the point of this post hit me....i would adore if Madonna evoked more of this kinda style....i mean she was into a lot of these styles/music/artistry in her teens....to invoke it with her own style (obviously) and bring it to the masses will be so damn epic for 2014 summer just imagine....oh and Madonna and Tarantino were fans of the original soap opera of the Dark Shadows origins COME ON ![]() Maybe too deep??? but man something dope would be so slick and layered! |

I would adore 2 new adventures of style on a new album
- Orchestral .......... blueprint: a nod to albums: Evita; Ray Of light; and songs: Masterpiece; .You`ll See; .. with Gospel elements. Big Strings - full Orchestra. Real Sounds. - Soft Rock/Bluesy/Folk ............blueprint: a nod to albums American Life; Music; less electonica and more real instruments in the styling of coldplay; mumford and sons; black keys; jack white; |

Orchestral reworkings (no electronica) of old songs would be great on a new tour... to work alongside new album (for next year!)
My top choices would be: Power of Goodbye; Devil Wouldnt Recognise You; Rain; Who`s That Girl; Spanish Eyes; Words; Sanctuary; I`ll Remember; You`ll See; This Used to be My Playground; Die Another Day; White Heat; Paradise; Intervention |

gig4 - adore the mdna studio versions of nothing fails/open your heart and then Live to tell.....the live to tell version is exquisite and would have fit so well in the tour. So suprised that it didnt make the cut. It is such a different interpretation and stunning.

I don't think her voice would work with the harder heavier kind of rock, but those artists you mentioned are still in the genre of pop music and melody which is what she does best. |

Love both those ideas. She could do both on the same album. It fits into the idea of duality which is one of Madonna's favourite words. One of my pet peeves about a lot of albums these days is that on a lot of them every song is in the same genre. Even if you like the songs, it gets boring after awhile. I know people think having every song in the same genre makes it a cohesive album but for me it doesn't. One of the things I do like about MDNA is there is a variety of sounds on it. I would like her to continue with that eclectic approach and not feel every song has to "fit" into the album concept of one sound.
Your suggestions of rock/folk artists are sounds I could see working with her voice. I don't think her voice would work with the harder heavier kind of rock, but those artists you mentioned are still in the genre of pop music and melody which is what she does best. and definitely i think BFP has near enough hit it on the head of the direction(s) Madonna can head next...both being different for Madonna and also a new venture, but yet also it is an upcoming trend...Black Keys reached a new level of awareness of recent years, you have HAIM a very Indie/80s Throwback band that were the BBC Sound Of 2013, Mumford & Sons are making it in America now....plus we had echoes of that sound a bit on MDNA with Love SPent So these areas are definitely and effectively where Madonna can stem it.Also agreed, Madonnas organic vocals and powerhouse stye can come to the fore again on the record rather than saving for live shows perhaps definitely...i mean the way she channeled her voice before on True Blue and Like A Prayer in particular had such a mighty husk with it that preached and commanded to the world....and while she maintained it across the 90s with certain songs she has kinda supressed it a lot....will be interesting to hear again....i loved it when she channeled it on I Dont give A... and Turn Up The Radio on the MDNA tour But the idea of blending Rockish sounds and orchestrals/classic and bluesy sounds can flow so beautifully. And yes to me cohesive is something that has a great flow, where songs can compliment each other without necessarily sounding alike....often that can be overbearing and weary at times if each song on an album sounds so familiar to the next, there always needs to be some key elements to maintain interest and yes a cohesiveness across an album ![]() I mean look at her conceptualised albums - Like A Prayer, Erotica, Ray Of Light, Music, American Life and Confessions On A Dance Floor....each of these albums has a concept/vision and tells a story, they showcase a unique iconic image (as do her first trio of albums too and BS) to the album/era and most importantly there are no two songs that sound exactly alike on the album, there is so much variation....its an area to capitalise on for album 13...I look forward to it definitely

I wonder what she'll call her next album. I'm sure I read somewhere that Madonna said 13 is one of her lucky numbers.

But yes titles/names...i mean in my head ever since the NO FEAR tattoo she had early on the MDNA shows i kinda envisaged Project NO FEAR as a potential title...there is also ]\/[ XIII (Madonna - 13) |

Was listening to Music earlier (having an M retrospective albums 1-5 love and then Rol and Confessions) and it's an album i like but don't. It' good in parts like the experimental electro feel and it's personal and reflective with nice songs and an overall vibe. But i just find it so dull in some respects was wondering how others felt about it ?
