Well, I don't know if Bitch, I'm Madonna is regarded universally as an awful song. It actually has grown on me. Personally, I don't like Borrowed Time that much. I wouldn't mind if that was left off. To me, at least the demo has kind of a sound that has been heard before. I do like Wash All Over Me. Obviously she can't put every demo on the album, so some people are going to be disappointed. Madonna fans are such a diverse lot. What may be a great song to one person may be crap to another. She can't really base her tracklist around what her fans want because they all want different things and like different songs. If you go to Madonna forums, no one can agree on what are the best songs! The whole concept of the album is to keep the balance between fun Rebel songs and more serious Heart songs.

Unlike GMAYL those were good uptempo songs, I'm of the opinion that anything she releases with Minaj will be mediocre. Holiday, Lucky Star, Into the Groove, Vogue, Deeper and Deeper etc. are all classics and fun.

Yes, Madonna will always do what she wants, that's the kind of artist she is. I don't always agree with her decisions though and I do think she does herself down at times. I played a friend Miss You an unreleased demo from her American Life album and my friend said "wow she actually has talent".

Bitch, Im Madonna is an ANTHEM!!! and has had big success Stateside comapred to the other 5 songs (minaj isnt "needed" but her verse is fun) I adore how whack it is and trippy....just frank and honest and fun...its like ehr all attitude song....destined to be an anthem definitely! and with that whacky video on You Tube just makes me love it more....the song is designed for the Tumblr generation so hypnotic an catchy! Love it!

So no not "universally panned" it has some damn right great acclaim going for it

Illuminati for me is the only one that kinda hasnt really got me as much in repeated listens but i dig it....

ANd i loathe the "best since Ray of Light" comparison more than the "best since Scary Monsters" tag line....Music, AMerican Life, Confessions On A Dance Floor, Hard Candy and MDNA are great albums IMO...Music/AL/COADF are definitive masterpieces <3 so hat tag to me is very redundant.....REBEL <3 will stand on its own two feet as a great piece of art.....I would hate for album 14 to come along in 2018 with the "oh now this is the best since Ray of Light" stuff...it gets tedious....

Anyways...next month things are kicking off, grammys, song release, new promo song, video, performances...lets have it!

I think when they choose the tracks for an album, they consider many different factors, probably things like (goes into record executive mode, lol) - we need something people can do aerobics to down at the gym, something controversial to whip up a bit of publicity and because it's Madonna, we need a chill out track, we need a track about world piece, we need something that will go down well in this territory because that's a big market etc etc.

So they're always going to be left with some great tracks on the cutting room floor. I don't think it's that Madonna sees them as second best to the ones they choose, they just couldn't fit them all in.

Record execs might even tell her what to do! - even if it is in a roundabout way, lol.

Good to have it confirmed. Guessing it will be a mash up of Living For Love and the promo single they are releasing the same day.

According to the Mirror Madonna is performing at the Brit Awards too, 20 years after she first performed there with the song Bedtime Stories. I hope so, she hardly promoted her music on MDNA at all on British television.

I hope Living For Love makes the top ten.

Madonna performing a different song at the Brits to grammy's would be a good call. Perhaps something uptempo and different? like 'beautiful scars'; 'graffiti heart'. Are the shows far apart?

Also when is BGT? I wouldn't be surprised by a promo appearance on BGT.

I've thought that was a good possibility for a few weeks, the delayed Living For Love launch, it's out iTunes on 22nd February and the Brits are on the 25th. Good promo and might just give her a top 5 single for one week anyway.

What is excellent is that grammys and Brits are far apart across Feb so will benefit Living For Love and Madonna promo wise further....we have chat shows a plenty soon and live programs! So will be excellent!

I too hope it is at least top 10! number 1 would be excellent but realistically i would adore if she had another top 10 smash with it it sounds beautiful and is a truly great song that deserves it after the lack of attention MDNA got (Wild should have been massive!) LFL just sounds excellent and has radio play so it has the backing deserved...now just unleash insanely great videos, performances and make the world go YEAHS that is the MADONNA and she owns it! Like we all know she does.

Only a few weeks until we know if they're right or not, but I must say, I absolutely love Beautiful Scars and still wholeheartedly loathe Bitch, I'm Madonna. Josh, how you can call it an "Anthem" is beyond me. Rebel Heart, Never Let You Go, Ghosttown, Wash All Over Me, now they're anthems! And also Josh, you said earlier that you loathe the "best since Ray of Light" comparisons. Unfortunately, an artist of Madonna's calibre is going to have her albums compared to one another. Every now and again she produces stuff of such unbelievably high quality and gob smackingly brilliant, that when the next album comes out it feels like a let down by comparison. That doesn't mean any of her albums are bad. Her "bad" albums are still miles better than the "best" ones that are released every single day.

But, a "brilliant" Madonna album are the ones where she has maximum input. Like a Prayer, Erotica, Ray of Light, CoaD and American Life. You can tell that she has created a huge chunk of the album by listening to her lyrics. When she wants to do something, she does it superbly. But with Hard Candy and MDNA you sensed that other people were pushing her buttons. That said, the last 4 songs on MDNA are fabulous. Why? Because they were the ones that had the fewest contributors and the ones that Madonna had the biggest amount of input. "I'm A Sinner" sounds like a cut from Ray of Light. "Love Spent" is such a fabulous creation I can listen to it over and over again. Then the two ballads. So, you shouldn't take offence when others compare Rebel Heart to her great albums that came before, because from initial first hearings of the demos it does indeed seem like we're almost in the grasps of a true Madonna classic album. Her future albums will no longer be compared to Ray of Light, but to Rebel Heart. That's the problem with Madonna. Unfortunately, she has set herself an incredibly high bar. And it's a hard one to reach.

Bitch I'm Madonna does look and sound so out of place if that is the official line up but I can forgive it because like you say this is certainly looking like it will be her strongest album since Confessions and with al the promo might be her most successful since then too!

I wonder what the second single will be? I doubt it will be one of the six released at Christmas because they are already out there so I'm guessing its one of the others.

I'm not sure S.E.X will make the album because all the versions I've heard are around 4.13. Not the 3.22 as suggested on the DrownedWorld site.

i tried to do the same ...but if you compare the demo lengths to the 6 released on iTunes they have different lengths to their demo counterparts. Also... where's the Ryan Tedder song and the track 'trust no bitch' or even the fantastic 'heartbreak city'?

Yes, she could definitely change the lengths of the songs. Someone that worked with her on orchestra/strings said that Messiah would be the last song on the album. I like Tragic Girl, but I don't see her putting that on there along with Joan of Arc and Messiah. It would be too many slower songs.
I also have a feeling Nothing Last Forever or Never Let You Go won't make it. I definitely feel even though some people hate it, Holy Water will and should be on it.
I think there will also be one "preachy" social political song. I have a feeling Revolution will make it since she has tagged it a few times on her instagram.

I am not bothered about Nothing Lasts Forever but Never Let You Go is a stunning track in tribute to her mother and is really catchy so I'm hoping that will be on there too.

I guess what we all need to bear in mind is that the tracklisting can change. MDNA was seemingly "locked in" and then three weeks to release she changed it! I think Messiah would be much better as the closing song and I have said earlier, I wouldn't mind Holy Water being on the album. The song Borrowed Time is quite preachy and would be a great song to follow on from Rebel Heart. But, we will all know in due course! I just want time to get over my disappointment when the songs I like aren't included - but that serves me and other fans right for listening to the leaks. If we had all avoided them, no one would be none the wiser!

Actually I really like Nothing Last Forever. A lot of fans like Never Let You Go, but I don't care for it that much. Too Kylie for me! But I do really like Borrowed Time. That would be a good one to include.
I'm not going to be disappointed with the tracklist because 1) I like almost all the demos and 2) I have the demos on my computer so I can listen to them anytime I want! I don't regret listening to them because I got a lot of enjoyment out of them. If I had avoided them, I would have missed out on hearing some good music. I just can never get enough Madonna!

Why that S.E.X song has made it on to the album instead of songs like Addicted and Beautiful Scars I'll never know. I've also noticed that my favourite song off the album Rebel Heart has been shortened from 4.00 in length to 3.21. Why? And a song on there with Mike Tyson? Really? Wish there was someway we could get them to change the track list

I'm with you regarding Rebel Heart. The version that is four minutes long is absolutely brilliant. Shortening it, especially for an album, is going to totally restrict its power. I am baffled by some of her decisions. And missing 15 seconds off Messiah is going to affect that song too. The length of Heartbreak City has also changed from 3.58 to 3.33. These songs that were brilliant when leaked seem to have been chopped down unnecessarily.

I think Rebel Heart is being shortened because it's being changed to an acoustic version. A lot of times the last song on her albums is a ballad or acoustic.

Madonna is the artist. She gets to make her own tracklist not fans. If you don't like it, you can make your own album if you have the demos. That's the problem with the demos leaking. People get attached to the demos and are disappointed if the songs are changed or their own personal favourite songs aren't on there. Whereas if you hadn't heard the demos, you could hear the album on its own merits without comparing it to something else.

Without fans, Madonna would not make music! I agree that she makes her own tracklists, but if she felt that an acoustic version of Rebel Heart would be better than the version that leaked, then I'm afraid she has misjudged that. I can't make my own album as I don't have the equipment to record from the computer so will be disappointed that I can't hear the excellent Rebel Heart version, that is available across the internet , direct from a CD on my hifi. I think she changed the final version deliberately because she was angry with the leaks, but if she doesn't make music that I like, I won't buy it. Fans are not as loyal these days.

Madonna also needs to learn that the way music is accessed is changing. She has been teasing us with or about new music for almost two years. People become impatient. It has been three years since her last record. If songs surfaced anywhere on the internet, they were going to be leaked. She should have been able to manage that and base her management around her expectations. This isn't the first time her songs have leaked. She should have been ready for this to happen. I am disappointed that she has also chosen a rapist to collaborate with. This is going to give her unwanted negative press. I am also baffled as to how HeartBreakCity is going to work in its new overly short version. And why has 15 seconds been shaved off Messiah? I really can't imagine how they'll be better than the leaked versions. Tampering for tampering sake if you ask me.
