I think Rebel Heart is being shortened because it's being changed to an acoustic version. A lot of times the last song on her albums is a ballad or acoustic.
Madonna is the artist. She gets to make her own tracklist not fans. If you don't like it, you can make your own album if you have the demos. That's the problem with the demos leaking. People get attached to the demos and are disappointed if the songs are changed or their own personal favourite songs aren't on there. Whereas if you hadn't heard the demos, you could hear the album on its own merits without comparing it to something else. Quote:
Without fans, Madonna would not make music! I agree that she makes her own tracklists, but if she felt that an acoustic version of Rebel Heart would be better than the version that leaked, then I'm afraid she has misjudged that. I can't make my own album as I don't have the equipment to record from the computer so will be disappointed that I can't hear the excellent Rebel Heart version, that is available across the internet , direct from a CD on my hifi. I think she changed the final version deliberately because she was angry with the leaks, but if she doesn't make music that I like, I won't buy it. Fans are not as loyal these days.
Madonna also needs to learn that the way music is accessed is changing. She has been teasing us with or about new music for almost two years. People become impatient. It has been three years since her last record. If songs surfaced anywhere on the internet, they were going to be leaked. She should have been able to manage that and base her management around her expectations. This isn't the first time her songs have leaked. She should have been ready for this to happen. I am disappointed that she has also chosen a rapist to collaborate with. This is going to give her unwanted negative press. I am also baffled as to how HeartBreakCity is going to work in its new overly short version. And why has 15 seconds been shaved off Messiah? I really can't imagine how they'll be better than the leaked versions. Tampering for tampering sake if you ask me. Madonna has been my favourite artist since 1984. I was mesmerised by her. She had balls and gutso. That was remarkeable for a woman in those days and even now, her message is "Get up and do your thing! Get noticed!" regadless as to whether you're male or female, gay or straight. Her message is universal. Her music has been at the very foremost of my life for thirty one years. I am like one of the strange posters on Youtube who film their reaction when something new by an artist they love is released. Who can forget those hilarious videos of Gaga's fans when Encore was previewed? Well, that's me. I am gutted that she found the need to collaborate with Mike Tyson. Infact I am getting irritated that she needs to collaborate with anyone. She never even credited Prince on Like a Prayer so collaborations have not been something she's been associated with. Of course, I will buy the album. If she released an album of nursery rhymes, I'd buy it! But, she does need to think about how long people are prepared to wait for her new music in the future. Someone said to me earlier "So, how many albums has Madonna done then, 20? 30?" They were gobsmacked when I told them that this was her 13th officially, but as I count I'm Breathless, it's her 14th. I guess that's why her music is so highly anticipated. But, if you're going to tease, you are going to get bitten. And once bitten then inevitably you will disappoint and be disappointed. Anyway, one final word on Rebel Heart (the song): From someone on MNation: "Demo 5 sounds also much different from the one you've all heard and I believe it was either produced by Rayn Tedder or the guys that reworked Devil Pray. I can't confirm that though. The Avicii drop is mising completely and there is no auto-tuned Reeebbeeelll Heeaaaarttt in it anymore" |

Wash A|l over Me is no longer an Avicci produced track. It has been reworked (I am worried by this bit) and co-produced by Kanye West. This album has been described as "Hard Candy Part II" over on the Madonnarama forums.

I have a feeling Wash All Over Me is now a ballad which I actually suggested would be better way back when it first leaked. I had a feeling this would happen and I think it will sound all the better for it.
If you listen to this version of Its So Cool. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zEdLXRbJk_Q Its far better than the final dance version. So I think Wash All Over Me will be fine as a slower number. I felt after first listen the demo was more like a remix anyway. As for Mike Tyson. I have a feeling its just one of his famous quotes being used. Madonna is lucky in the sense that Mike being on there won't really harm her at all. Unlike the R Kelly situation with Gaga. |

It annoys me there are 3 versions because the likes of Tesco will only stock the crap 14 track version when everyone with any sense will want the 19 track album.
I will buy both the 19 track one and the 25 track one. |

It won't even be an issue. Mike isn't seen as damaged brand. In fact its the opposite, he has a successful career both in boxing and in showbiz and was a huge part of the Hangover franchise.

How do you know she changed the songs because of the leaks? I see it the other way around she was very upset about the leaks because the songs weren't how she wanted them to be and how she wanted them to be heard. That was her whole point on her rant on instagram. She wanted the songs to be heard how she wanted them to be not some earlier versions she wasn't happy with. |

Sorry, Gigi, your post above mine was speaking common sense. Mine beneath it sounded like a rant! I didn't mean to rant and rave. I do think it is, in hindsight, better to leave the choices and judgement to Madonna. After all, it's her music! I am disappointed that she has dropped the fabulous version of Rebel Heart though. I'm not going to pretend I'm not. But there are rumours circulating that she has dropped Avicci from her album and that the Ryan Tedder track is a reworked version of Rebel Heart. Wash All Over Me is also apparently totally reworked. Perhaps, and it is just a small perhaps, that if Avicci has been dropped, we can know who leaked the stuff in the first place? Just a thought!
Madonna has been my favourite artist since 1984. I was mesmerised by her. She had balls and gutso. I agree. Madonna really should have released one double album containing 24 songs. 12 on one CD and 12 on another. It is a way to ensure that more people buy the album. I am disappointed that all Avicci involvement has been erased, and apparently, Rebel Heart featured is the acoustic demo version! What was she thinking? What was shaping up to be a good era is starting to look a bit messy. I'm not bothered about remixes. I will buy singles for those. I also think that if she was intent on putting on remixes, then the s[pecial Disc should have run like this:
1) REBEL HEART (4.00) 2) BEAUTIFUL SCARS 3) QUEEN 4) BORROWED TIME 5) GRAFFITTI HEART 6) AUTOTUNE BABY 7) ADDICTED 8) ICONIC PART 2 I'm not sure why a double album will sell more? Casual buyers don't want those because they might be too expensive. Special editions are for hard core collector fans who have to have the physical. There are remixes on the deluxe edition of MDNA so this is really no different. |

Avicii hasn't been dropped from the album at all. Madonna has stated in a new post on her website that he is still featured on the album. Which is a good job, because that version of Rebel Heart is one of the best songs she has done for a long time.
I just hope this "Super Deluxe" does exist, and that it includes some of the great songs such as Beautiful Scars and The One That Got Away that she has missed off the 19 disc version in favour of a song called sex and a song with a retired boxer.... "Rebel Heart explores two very distinct sides of my personality, the rebellious renegade side of me and the romantic side of me" commented Madonna recently in Billboard. The new album features collaborations with Nicki Minaj, Kanye West, Nas, Chance the Rapper and Mike Tyson and was recorded in NY, LA and London. Producers include Madonna, Diplo, Kanye West, Billboard, Avicii, DJ Dahi and Blood Diamonds, Ryan Tedder, Toby Gad, and Ariel Rechtshald. |

Madonna has confirmed that Avicii is on the album.
Expect all the demos we heard to be completely different to the final product. Remember how this https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pAj32bTwSXs sounded nothing like this https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rRAV6eujO5I |

I do hope Messiah does have the orchestration.....
i am now worried that this album may loose its earthy feel ...if everything is replaced by synths |

based on just the melodies from demos and final rebel heart 6 tracks ....
my ideal track list would be 1. God Is Love (used as an intro track) 2. Living For Love 3. Joan of Arc 4. Beautiful Scars 5. Rebel Heart 6. Ghosttown 7. Wash All Over Me 8. Holy Water 9. Unapologetic Bitch 10. Devil Pray 11. Inside Out 12. Heartbreak city 13. The One That Got Away 14. Messiah deluxe bonus tracks 15. illuminati 16. Borrowed Time 17. Nothing Lasts Forever 18. Graffiti Heart 19. Tragic Girl it just feel like a very cohesive piece of work in this format. But i am sure the tracks we haven't heard won't sound like the demos as M had said. So many surprises await Particularly the Hold Tight (R Tedder version) which i think could be excellent. Equally I love Holy Water and Body Shop and I expect them to be glorious in final form.
