I get a different vibe with Confessions. It starts off light and fluffy but ends up quite dark and serious. Forbidden Love is quite a dark song. It's initial meaning is that of a boy and a girl who are not allowed to be together, but it's deeper than that. I interpret it as a statement against homosexuality and a protest against people are prejudiced against each other in one way or another. Then of course, Isaac. Quite simply a superb and creative way to bring vocals and instrumentation together. Everything, including the kitchen sink, is thrown at that song and at over 5 minutes long, it is one of the stand out tracks on the album. Finally, Like It Or Not is a wonderfully cynical Madonna sticking her finger up at her detractors. I love Confessions. It is something I listen to from start to finish, as I do with all Madonna albums. I personally feel that each of her albums are so strong, even her bad ones, that it is needed to be heard in its entirety when you play one.
I do agree with you, I wish the songs on Confessions weren't segued together. There is a version where they're not, but it is incredibly hard to come by and probably, really expensive!
