And i lvoe the look...Personally i hope that for 2014 when we get a new album/era she will really mix it up a bit...this sophisticated black slick line wig she has sported before and this one really suit her...she can mix it up a lot in many senses and that jacket is very warrior princess in look! I love it! and the colars and fishnets echo to 1981 - 84 Madonna definitely! Love love love!

gigi was it you that reccommended Solange the True EP to me? I cant remember i know someone did...anyways looking at M posing with Frank, Sky, Beyonce etc there at the MET event.....got me thinking...Punk meets Neo-Soul...that marriage together of Indie Pop and Neo SOul and you can hear elements on the EP...speaking of which it does sound like Madonnas first album in elements there too...have a listen if you havent...or if you have do you know what i mean lol?

It wasn't me that recommended it, but I do have that EP and I really like it. I'm not that into R&B/soul but Solange mixes it together with other elements like indie pop. I know what you mean when you say it has elements of Madonna's first album. It has an eclectic feel about loving life. Solange is so much cooler than her sister! She lives in a cool area of Brooklyn where she's exposed to all those different urban melting pot elements. Brooklyn today is what the Lower East Side was when Madonna moved there in the late 70's/early 80's.

Yeah Neo-Soul seems to be where my tastebuds are at especially now...orderd the True Ep and Jessie Wares Devotion FINALLY too (the new deluxe one with the song that sound slike it samples "get together" Imagine It Was Us LOVE that song too!) Yeah it has old skool Pop and that Madonna vibe about it from her first album (my fave debut album ever....Bjorks is second and Janelle in third ) i just love those summery/urban vibes yeah i love that dreamy vibe...and love those sounds are coming to the fore...SOlange i love her vocal style...its of a similar timbre to Madonnas i find too...that blend of higher into lower tones effortlessly....ah right well that explains it...Brooklyn

Yeah i presumed so..so many cltural and artistic elements from LES! definitely I do love that...and hell yeah i mean i dig Beyonces 4 album....but she is very much "commercial to the T" you know? Whereas SOlange has that creativity....doesnt matter if she sells 10 albums, 1,000 albums or 1 million albums....she knows she has released what she wanted, said what she wanted to say and provide material to the world as best fit and i love that Reading about her and all...she seems so damn cool!

I don't think this outfit does anything for her at all. I'd have preferred her in a ballgown!

I don't like this outfit at all, I think it makes her look like mutton dressed as lamb I think she would have looked much better in a nice ball gown and with blonde hair.

The gala was to celebrate an exhibit that they're having at the Metropolitan Museum about punk fashion. People were supposed to follow the theme by wearing clothes inspired by punk. It would be very inappropriate that she wore a ball gown even though other people did that. I'm glad she went all out punk in line with the theme of the exhibition. Madonna at heart is more of a punk than a ball gown person, I think!

She's not trying to look young. She's celebrating punk fashion from the late 70's/early 80's. That's how people dressed on the punk scene. It was very sexual. She's also referencing with Patti Smith with the dark hair. A ball gown would be so wrong for a punk gala. Would make no sense!

Ok, well, I still think the outfit sucks.

Maybe it's because you don't appreciate punk? I love the whole punk era, but I get it's not everyone's cup of tea. But I think Madonna affinity is for punk/unconventional fashion. That's how she started. She's not a conventional Hollywood pretty type of person. Even though some fans want that I guess.

I'm not really a punk fan no, I do remember how M started though and I think it looked better on her back then.

I prefer the more pretty/cute look she had on TB and WTG, she was a cute punk in that film.

Isnt the whole idea of "Punk" meant to be kinda tasteles....so the trashier/sexual the better....Madonna rocked it! the lace, the chains, the crucifixes, the dark hair.....its such a cool look and she stole the show in so many ways

Its like a real mash up of herself and her influences to make an influenced version....and this is just for "fun" She knows how to do it...but i am so intrigued where these looks/styles are heading definitely...

i think she looked great, she raised a few eyebrows, as expected, but she got into the spirit of the evening unlike other attendees.

But yeah its like no one knew how to take it and it works on so many levels...as many have said...ballgowns??? pffft...Madonna was the most punk there really i dont get the "best/worst" lists thing either...surely a ball gown is an immediate "worst" attempt i dunno!

i think she stuck to the theme and vamped it up a few notches, which is unsurprising, considering its her. of course, its bad taste, but its not completely inappropriate considering the context of the event. many of attendees look like they didn't get the memo, but they were probably more concerned in topping those meaningless fashion lists.

Kim Kardashian (ugh!) however is in the new for the wrong reasons (as per!) for her dress looking like a couch

And with all the attention Madonna is also winning polls (ironic no?) for the best look!

There was a picture somehow of Madonna and Kim posing together. I guess Madonna did it as favor to Kayne who she worked with on HC. I really don't mind Kim that much as some people. Yes, she's famous for nothing and not that talented or intelligent. But on her show, she comes off as a pretty nice genuine person, not super bitchy or stuck on herself. I know I shouldn't like Kim, but I do! I do sort of feel the media really picks on her a little too much and it's cruel. It may sound crazy but it made me happy to see a picture of Madonna and Kim together.
In some exciting news. Madonna will be at the Billboard Music Awards on May 19th to pick up an award for Top Touring Artist. Can't wait to see what she's wearing! Will she keep the punk look or go back to her more normal everyday look.

Yeah there is a respect with M and West....so it was a favor i reckon....i havent seen anything Kardashian so have no idea at all really lol! It just seems too Paris Hilton for me....but yeah i do get what you mean...Madonna just blends right in and stands out with the current generation of Celebrity (basically this MET gala was famous faces from the past decade and Madonna....just show really)

And i know iread she was to attend the Billboard Awards...sham she wont perform or anything but agreed i wanna see what she will work next See if there is a trend perhaps?

I dont think we will ever get a pic of M and Kylie...so close MANY times and that is hilariously cruel of Brahim but a cruel irony on the matter!

Even Hilary herself tweeted her appreciation of Madonna In many ways i am glad Hilary is having a shot at fame too...loved her in the Intern recently so thats even cooler too great business lady!

But yeah i do love how many interpretations Madonnas look can make and it was just for fun
