SHes a busy birdy....on a wingy wingy wingy
Can't wait for the Secret Project. I read that her interest in some of these issues was really peaked her relationship with Brahim, who is a French Muslim and an immigrant to France I guess. She sort of mentioned that at her speech at the infamous shortened French concert. This is a controversial but it's shocking to me in this country how otherwise very liberal people will say anti-Muslim and anti-immigrant comments because of one or two people who may make do something bad. It doesn't mean all Muslim people or all people from Islamic countries are that way. But more and more you hear comments like let's keep "those people" out from otherwise liberal people. It's shocking to me. I find this kind of sentiment much more common here than in the US where even conservatives will fall over themselves not to say anything that may appear racist or anti-Muslim. In tough economic times, people look for scapegoats and too often it's Muslim or Islamic immigrants now. I hope she addresses that no matter how controversial it may be, it's something that needs to be talked about more.

haha, forbes have printed their top 100 most powerful women with madonna nowhere to be seen and joyce banda is riding high in the top 50. as much as i agreed with their opinions on madonna`s finances, that list is a complete joke. madonna is a self made woman raking in millions 30 years into her career, while some women on that list are prominent figures in part due to their high profile marriages with powerful men.

Gpk the Forbes World's Most Powerful Women list is based off the female celebrities and their rank on the last Celebrity 100 list from MAY 2012! That's right Forbes based the female celebs and their ranking from a list that is a year old and covers as far back as 2 years, May 2011-May 2013. The new Celebrity 100 list of the world's Most Powerful Celebrities is expected to be released next week and make no mistake, Madonna will be Extremely high. The list covers earmings and power from May 2012-May 2013 and we all know how she cleaned up with the MDNA Tour.

Just be patient

if that is so, why did they publish that new list i posted yesterday? i am aware that earnings are only part of their decision process, but i still think that her exclusion is biased nonsense.

I forgot that about Brahim ...yeah maybe that ignited her passion again...will be interesting to see what it will be about

And lvoed that interview "fame is nothing without being a person" Yeah so very inspiring and yeah Madonna despite her status, and she knows her status and power, she never drives the fame side/celebrity side of things

Love that in one image Vacuums sky rocketed haha!

as for Forbes as "so" said....we will find out the latest soon...but i know money isnt everything..but Madonna owns both status and wealth so high...i meant there is literally no one more well renowned in the music industry than Madonna right now...and then, and in the future....its impossible to match which is why i get so baffled even when she isnt doing anything she isnt ranked high up when so many Beyonce, RIhanna, gaga types do make it there :/

we will find out the latest celebrity list, that is what "so" implied. the forbes list is fundamentally flawed if we are to believe that celebrities are placed on that list based on their last year rankings in the celebrity list. madonna is more than an entertainer and certainly more than a celebrity. she is almost the very definition of a powerful woman and her earnings shouldn't dictate her inclusion on that list.

look at all the controversies from her last tour, she stirred the pot wherever she went and many of those controversies her born out of her defending women`s rights.

Forbes doesnt really shwocase everything Madonna is abut though...more than a celebrity, more than a rich lady, more than an artist, more than a musician, more than an entertainer....its quite a status to have and few....in fact next to no one has that power.

interesting, but it does showcase others on their influence regardless of their main occupation. sorry, if i seem overly defensive on such a trivial issue, but that list is biased bs.

Bias is their loss tbh....

Anyways.....rewatched the final Buffy episode "Chosen" yesterday (was 10 years ago it aired!) and when i got in from work i played the Buffy: Radio SUnnydale album and man oh man it brought back such a late 90s/early 00s glow.

So now have Ray Of Light on blast....that spiritual beauty/Bristol Trip Hop scene/Electronica/Ambience across it....i love that! reminds me of The Bronze in some elements too ....Madonna and Buffy married by top standard Musique

But yeah....im all about ROL this evening <3 that watery/sci fi feel...so many memories there <3

Forbes have a huge vendetta against Madonna. Its pretty blatent now to be honest whereas in the past they were able to get away with it.

They spent most of last year saying the MDNA tour had been a flop compared to BTW ball when the reality was the other way around. Whatever tho. I don't think Madonna really cares. Constantly missing her out from these lists just discredits them, not Madonna. As everyone, even her haters, know she would be there.

You know what really annoys me? When Mariah Falsely goes around proclaiming herself The World's Biggest Selling Female Artist of All Time

Guinness Book of Records, Forbes, IFPI and Billboard all claim that it's Madonna by a wide margin, in fact you can go on the Guinness website yourself and see it.

Why must her and her record label lie in their press releases?

because its f-cking Mariah Carey.... never been a fan anyway...not my kinda style or approach or format or anything really....but FFS Celine Dion has sold more than Mariah and she is still way off Madonnas stats!

And Mariah is only really just ahead of Whitney and barbara Streisand anyway so??? WTF does this even come from? But i guess the same reason why she is on American Idol and Madonna is millions of lightyears away from it...one craves attention....the other just gets it YEAH BABY!

Not hating or anything, not my style...but bloody hell im not a "diva fan" really....even though Madonna sometimes gets that tag, i dont associate her with that crowd...she is the definition of an ARTIST and in so many ways paved the way for women in music to not really get sucked into the "diva tag" be independant, be yourself and be creative and push forward

Madonna has never struck me as the type of person who puts much stock in lists or award shows. I doubt she cares about Forbes magazine so I don't really care about it either. She just does what she does and doesn't think too much about that kind of acknowledgment or praise from outside.

Josh, glad you're enjoying Ray of Light. I am listening to Hard Candy right now. I really didn't like it at the time, but I'm liking it now. It's a real summer jam record. I always find it more interesting to go back to records I wasn't into at the time than records I loved when they first came out. You discover new things about those records more.

I read the reason for the long delay in releasing the DVD is that they're trying to sell the rights to air it to other countries. Epix is just a US station. So hopefully it will air on tv here in the UK this summer sometime.

i don't think she cares either to be honest and neither do i, well not beyond pointing out that the list is biased bs. nevertheless, forbes is a credible source to many people and i think they owe their readers a bit more objectivity when they consider compiling these lists.

as for mariah and her record company claims, that is absolutely of no concern to me. the facts speak for themselves and as madonna recent said herself, "Lies have no legs. Only the truth can stand!"

Who really cares who sold more? That's not what it's all about.

Yes, I'm with you. I don't see it as competition. I like who I like. I don't pay that much attention to chart positions or sales. The only reason I care about all this is that sometimes it seems if an artist sells a lot that will encourage them to do more albums sooner and I always want frequent releases from my favourite artists. It's not so much an issue with a global superstar like Madonna, but there are lots of artists I like from the 80's or the 90's, who may put out a new album but then it sells poorly and then they get discouraged and they won't release another album for years and years.

Yes, I think it's because I didn't play it that much when it first came out. Sometimes if I really love a record immediately, I will play it so much that I get sick of it. But HC wasn't overplayed for me. I love ROL but I've listened to that so many times!

At the end of the day sales do not really "matter" what Madonna has sold/her stats etc....it is always about the quality pushed out ....but the fact that she elevated to such a massive status of creativity and which also united her commercial viability and worldwide awareness she has...its near enough unmatched.

Its like Spielberg or Lucas or Ridley Scott or Tim Burton....you always anticipate it to do well creatively/commercially anyway regardless....but the main fact is you should love it....but when it all happens...thats the big bonus

Yeah thats true...i mean i play LAP, Erotica, TFA so many times a month practically....and havent played ROL in full for a while (two months plus maybe) so its always great to return to that area after a while .

I have a feeling Daft Punks latest will be like that...a while of reruns, a few months pause and then the reminder of why you loved it in the first place brilliant!

also found the EPIX ad on a bus

https://fbcdn-sphotos-f-a.akamaihd.n...66326118_n.jpg

Seems like its true and they will want TV circulation June/July/August before DVD mid - late Sept i reckon so the DVD after massive hype will be a success by then and maybe then Madonna will also attend her event launch of it perhhaps?

I mean its been a treat this year having her at numerous events already!

Here's another portion of the Extra TV interview. She discusses her age. She says she only defies her age if people have preconceived notions about what that looks like!
