Oh my God, just watched the opening! Can't wait to have it on blu-ray!
. Also i love the Pop Art influenced Express Yourself and the mix of Luvin was far more energetic and very wise. And the Kalakan Trio was fabulous there with Open Your Heart <3 And the Masculine/Femenine segment feels like such a exorcism of spirit and soul...Love Spent.LAV merged together is so darn beautiful....havent seen the final segment of it yet as it phased out unfortunately (my connection not me lol)....but i really cannot wait to see it all on DVD and the extras and everything
I hope its leading somwehere defining again...as this tour WOW....and also didnt know how much went into the Hung Up performance....the ropes and battle-esque vibes were just amazing and the reworking of it i loved too...maintaining the pace of the original album version but added techno punching stuff...amazing!
Really makes sense with all that went into the show...love the idea how Madonna thinks in "characters" and the relationship of that character within the music and performance...thats a fantastic idea i always love about her and her albums...that cinematic/filmic nature
the interview with arianne was a good read and its so true about her not being nostalgic. "mdna" is possibly the closest we'll ever get her revisiting the past on record. there was elements of "ray of light" on there with orbit on board and songs like "i'm addicted" wouldn't have been out of place on "confessions", but she didn't really delve as far back as the eighties in my opinion, apart from a lyrical reference here and there. although, "give me all your luvin" may have been placed to represent that era.
i don't know about anyone else, but a good opening is always a crucial part of the show for me.
its interesting looking back at her previous openings to compare and see her reinvent over the years. the virgin tour had a bit of an amateurish start with the silhouette image on what bizarrely resembled the bruce forsyth generation game "thinker pose" from the seventies.
while she kept the silhouette theme opening through to the "who`s that girl tour", it did a great job in recreating her amazing "open your heart" video and it was a huge step forward in terms of stage presentation.
"the girlie show" entrance with her emerging as a rotating dominatrix was another spectacular game changer, while the subtle in comparison dry ice extravaganza on "drowned world" was just as effective, but for different reasons. the image of her emerging from the fog was just so powerful amongst the anticipation to see her live again at that point in time.
a crowd pleasing anthem like "vogue" was enough in itself to command the audience from the offset, but those yoga poses were something else.
moving forward to the irony of her equestrian opening on the "confessions tour", which was perhaps inspired by her debilitating fall prior to the album campaign and her being revealed from inside a disco ball was again another great staging moment. the "sticky and sweet tour" was the last time i caught her live and her throne entrance was again just fabulous.
however, i do think the whole pimp concept seemed to me more parody then her actually trying to master that style, much like she did in the "music" video.
Confessions really felt like such a massive ride!
lool I bet that was so hard for them to do but it does make a mockery of their rankings when they constantly snub Madonna this way.

however, i stand by what i said then and still feel their reasoning is flawed here once again. i honestly expect more objectivity from what is considered such a credible publication.
amazing....Which just shows she wil be a force when she releases somehing with power behind it left right and centre again
