I wonder if it is true...we will soon find out...if true...she is harkening back to British shores and maybe the Stuart Price rumours will be true and if so..in Abbey Road studios we will definitely be having organic instruments for M to be fully inspired by.....come on come on come on!!

So I have to admit for years I was of those people who turned their nose up at Madonna, but you know i've actually listened to some of her early music properly recently. Brilliant! I'm going to be buying her first two albums, Madonna and Like a Virgin first chance I get! songs i've been listening to constantly over the last few days: Like A Virgin, Burning Up, Lucky Star, Holiday, Into The Groove, Live To Tell, Express Yourself.

Her early stuff is great. Like A Prayer is the cherry on top of the cake though. I can't understand why people hate on Madonna and then turn round and say they don't know her music though? A Gaga stan on here was arguing Madonna was past it until they were blue in the face and a week later they openly admitted they knew little about her music

Ah Sam that is brilliant....Yes starting at the very beginning, then perhaps when you are ready work your way through chronologically...as you can imagine it is quite the journey.

I adore her debut album so much...its gritty Synthy meets Post-Disco and Funk with delicious Pop melodies and a crisp voice....its unmatched

And I too dont understand people that criticise Madonna yet never seem to listen to her music or notice her videos etc i find rediculous as that is what made me fall in love with her when i was a littleun right on through until now

Oh and i do hope the rumours circulating from UK LN (presuming Live Nation) that Madonna will start recording album 13 soon and in Abbey Road Studios come to fruition....it really sounds like she has her mojo back, especially seeing her light up on tour....she has that passion again and its so exciting hearing that she will be gearing up.

Also if true it may link up to the Stuart Price reunion AND perhaps Paul Epworth (Florence & The Machine, Adele, Friendly Fires, Foster The People) may hook up with Madonna...its been a dream of mine anyhow and tie it together....rootsy, bluesy, rockish, alternative dance....ah man

I think she's going to put an album out in 2013 that's for sure. MadonnaTribe don't get much wrong and they seem confident she's touring again in 2014 so she will probably spend next year putting new music out and promoting it and then 2014 on the road again. I hope and pray they have learned lessons from MDNA regarding the importance of good single choices and promo

If they are putting out an album in 2013 it suggests she must have been really unhappy with MDNA and has the sense to not hang around for a follow up. If she really is recording soon then I cannot see it not being released next year. My guess is late summer/early fall.

Thank you, Josh I will probably end up doing something like that. The main reason I thought about listening to Madonna was because this year i've become a massive fan of Prince, and I was already a big fan of MJ so I thought I would give the other biggest artist of the 80's a chance, and i'm loving what I hear. Strangely enough out of those artists Madonna's the only one you could still call "relevant" when it comes to making new music in the 21st century. (Michael being dead doesn't help either )

I heard that she really wanted Im Addicted; Beautiful Killer;GGW and Gang Bang as singles only! But GMAYL she liked for the Superbowl .... and was suprised when Interscope wanted it as lead single?

But she has apparently realised the fan love for Beautiful Killer and Love Spent!


I still believe that the best tracks on the album for killer singles are: strangely enough: I`m Addicted; Beautiful Killer; Some Girls; Masterpiece; Superstar; LoveSpent

in hindsight she should have sang 'I dont give a' instead of GMAYL at Superbowl... icing on the cake.

I'm Addicted should have always kicked off the album. Several music critics at the listening party even said this and someone from Capital said it was the only song they could have seen themselves playlisting.

Its interesting how the more mature songs like Beautiful Killer, Love Spent and Masterpiece have been the best recieved this era. Hopefully she uses that as an indicator for where to go next. No more Girl Gone Wilds!!

To be honest they ****ed up the whole thing after Masterpiece won the Golden Globe. It should have been given a video and released as a single straight away. She might have even bagged herself a Grammy nod for it had they thought things through properly. It only missed out on being nominated at the Oscars because of that stupid 60 second rule they overlooked! unbeleiveable how things played out for her in 2012.

I hope for the next release she has the guts to sing about the ageist crap she has had to put up with this year. Be really good to see her making a point of mentioning it.

Nearly the end of 2012, what a fast and wonderful year it has been! 2013 will be bigger and better! I just came across this fan-art for an MDNA cover! I think it's absolutely gorgeous and sums up the moods and vibes of the MDNA era's darker music and the tour particularly very well!

Funnily enough i have liked Prince for a while but about winter time last year i got into his stuff a lot more and own a few albums

But i am glad that you love what you hear...hey maybe by the time you have heard all her albums it will be the time album 13 is released by the sounds of it

And also Prince recorded Love Song on the Like A Prayer album with Madonna...it is a song that tends to divide fans but I personally LOVE it...well the whole album is my favourite ever...its very deep and broad so bear that in mind when you first hear the album...very visceral! I adore it...but Love Song is a great allusion to the Quiet Storm sounds of Marvin gaye....i love it! And hope when the time comes you will dig it too

If she does release Album 13 around the Autumn in 2013 then i do hope Madonna really plans and maps out the concepts for it...and really generates a lot of scope of where to head the album...i do not want her to rush through it or else Interscope will just eff things up again and a potentially greater album will be sidelined.

Personally i would love for her to take this break to get influenced...by the sounds of it that is what she will be doing...and then it will be confirmed whether she will enter the studio soon...if so YAY for Abbey ROad! and then take time seeing what visuals to utilise, how to market it, where to take everything next stop.

2013 is already crammed full of Pop Princesses/Poptarts returning and clogging up the atmosphere...i would HATE for Madonna to be in the background of everything too if true.

Personally if the 2014 tour is true...then why not set everything up across 2013...then 2014 spring/summer have a few singles out, have a promo tour plan...then autumn/winter 2014 - spring 2015 embark on the next world tour?? I could see that happening.

But the main thing is i would hate for it to be ending up like another wasted era....but chances are Madonna wont let herself be tricked by Interscope.

And Im Addicted would have been a sublime lead song....in fact as a rule i would hope it is JUST Madonna on vocal (unless there is backing singers obviously) throughout album 13...no rent-a-rapper or "current hot property" duetting on there unless for artistic reason (namely Beth Ditto if pushed!)

Thats another thing....a massive reinvention in style and direction and COLOUR!

It's been a while but in my end year review MDNA of course featured. On reflection a decent if not groundbreaking album. And of 30's years i want her to stop with the relevancy and realise she is MAdonna and no one and nothing can take that away from her and to be true to herself and create an album for herself and fans. It's like KM and ABRS maturing but still doing something outside of the box i know madonna can shock like people put on socks but it's time to settle down and go back to what se was known for and if she does that there is no telling where she can go after all 22 years in and COADF who could have predicted eh

MDNA was a fast tracked album that -

a) go her to exorcise demons onto her record and have fun
b) ensured she had new material to go on tour with
c) be a collection of songs of different moods/tempos

It could have done much much much better commercially...but alas it didnt, still all round it is a great solid album

But its also a concrete basis for somewhere to branch out and build up from...which is what it sounds like...going back to her roots and inspirations maybe

I feel Interscope wanted "radio friendly" releases only not knowing that Madonna basically releases and makes and takes risks and end up being hits in their own right...so that should be what album 13 should be about...something instinctive

Yes exactly radio friendly with a touch of the personal an album that had great moments that wasn't fully realised and could have gone further But as you say from it she can go anywhere it wasn't a complete disaster like Lotus that stripped away who she was as an artist in a bid to stay rlevant it was very much still her it's like her Red Shoes commercial yet her something for old and new

Oh man dont get me started on that topic at least Bionic was all round very solid and was HER you know? ah man....utter disappointment for the sake of radio airplay and it didnt even get that

but yes MDNA bar of course the singles was very much the only kinda album MADONNA can do, and it had a nice mix of styles which i loved and still love...each segment of the album for different moods so yeah it is a neat set up.

Actually mentioning that you could say 2012 was Madonna for the fans almost in that it was name alone promo bar the Superbowl (which never mentioned MDNA anyway...but engineered itunes dominance later on) and the tour which was a love letter through 30 years (cone bra reinvented, Like A Prayer allusions, True Blue/Virgin allusions, politics, melancholy, nostalgia for the Celebration finale) and the fact 2.1 million tickets were sold name alone too...very fan fronted has been great to see and makes up for it in some ways.

But i do think Madonna having low commercial sales/responses have lead to her to be more musically/artistically motivated for album 13...i mean the tour had so much detail in it you could tell what had more time on it definitely.

Its where she takes it all next which will be the most exciting!

The tour was killer overall, but, as she says in the interlude, "it's so sad that it had to end". Roll on 2013.

2014 for a new tour sounds plausible. She has to tour another two times before 2016 as part of the Live Nation deal. So a tour in 2014 and then in 2016 fits in with this contract.

It's amazing to think Britney the puppet had a sonically and musically more interesting album than Xtina''The Artist'' it was bland JP it just wasn't there And true it was more low key than usual she just seemed content to do it rather than for need mybe its madeher relaise she has nothing left to prove and cannot be dethroned so easily Gaga i'm lookin at you Also with W.E Superbowl etc she had a lot on and created some more iconic moments for her legacy if not all were strictly neccesary (the boob flashing madge they are still good for 54 bu no jus no we get enough from RiRi ).

To be fair. The early reviews for Lotus were far more flavourable than the early MDNA views. Infact I think there is only an 8 point gap between Lotus and MDNA on mediacritic.

Bionic had already been a huge flop for XTina so all Lotus did was support the theory that Christina's best days are now behind her. MDNA however is one of Madonna's lowest selling albums off the back of Hard Candy which was also one of her least favoured records. The Tour has been her saving grace but her new music is just not delivering the goods like you would expect someone in her position to. Lets put things into contrast. Music and Confessions had both cleared sales of 3 million within three months of release. Hard Candy hit sales of 2 million within six months of its release, 3 and a half million at the end of its first year. MDNA hasn't even hit 2 million nearly a whole year into release. Even Amercan Life sold more. This is a disaster for her legacy. If it wasn't for the tour being a hit she would have been in a right mess. Someone of Madonna's status is expected to sell huge units regardless. The fact she is way down on her own past efforts suggests a problem.

I'm a huge Madge fan but I am not going to sugarcoat anything to suit fandomers. Those are the hard facts. MDNA sales are 2 and a half million down on Hard Candy's. You can blame promo and wrong singles being chosen but she is still Madonna. Her name alone should provide enough interest. Plus the promo thing works both ways. The whole Lady Gaga thing has kept her at the front of headlines for the past two years so its not like she hasn't been in the press. This is without all the antics on the tour itself.

MDNA has been her most underperforming album to date. To make it worse she had an audience of 200 million watch her promoting herself at the superbowl. Which now in retrospect doesn't seem to have impacted her music at all but more or less just boosted tour sales.

So Madonna really has alot to prove with album 13. Her music needs to be the main focus again. If it goes the MDNA way then she might be in trouble. Madonna's days of being a singles artist might be over now. That is probably more of a concern to her than anything else. Two of the singles from MDNA just didn't go anywhere. Christina has at least managed to have two hits off Lotus on the Billboard. So I'm not sure why both are being compared.

All this said. After the American Life scare Madonna knew she had to deliver. So after the MDNA scare she really knows that she must deliver this time.

Universal really couldn't have made much from her in 2012. I'm actually willing to bet she lost them money. Which might actually explain why she is back in the studio so quickly.

All in all. If album 13 performs worse than MDNA then she is in the shit and I worry about what the latter, and final, story of her amazing music legacy will be. I fear people are just now bored of her because its all been done. Thats a far more dangerous position to be in than anything else. I can't help but wonder if when she starting following the trends rather than creating them with Hard Candy it ruined what she had going and derailed her vision. One thing she said at the time of MDNA's release has always stuck in my mind. She said that her creativity had gone. It shows.

Its true...its such a bad album....i mean there are two songs i like on it an even they are gonna go off on me..guts me to say it tbh but it really wasnt there.

Anyhow enough of that....

Album 13 has a lot lying on it definitely Its whether Madonna can translate again into a new music world....i meant she has used social media very well and overtook itunes for a period of time too its just gutting that the album could have done so much more.

I mean i dont think she will be pleased to be 21st biggest selling album of 2012...lets say that

SO I do think that Madonna will focus a lot more on material, what works for her and where to head it next, i do think we are all ready for a new reinvention and new destination definitely
