I agree. I really love the Arcade Fire album too. Will have to check out the Cut Copy one. Blood Orange loves Suzanne Vega who is coming out with a new album next year who is one of my favourite artists. People think she is a pure folk artist, but she really isn't. She has more of a cool pop aspect mixed in with some electronics and rock, more so than traditional folk artists like Bob Dylan and Leonard Cohen who I find a little dull. She changes with each album. She's sort of the Madonna of folk music! Everyone should check out her album 99.9 Degrees F. and the song Blood Makes Noise. Also good are her albums Nine Objects of Desire and Days of the Open Hand.
I have to say, the thoughts of someone saying that to Suzanne Vega's face tickled me. They'd probably get slapped.

hehe we are suckers for "promo" on here gigi XD....but yeah i mean i know Vegas stuff but have never heard her back to front if that makes sense? will have too soon i reckon . She isnt a name that comes up often and by recent articles mentioning her i will have to.

And ill bet she would find it flattering tbh...both similar age arent they? at a similar time...i love it when an artist is an artist and reinvents and shakes themes and styles up really do and lvoe that M does it so much per album too...its a natural progression and adore that .

and yeah cant believe i have gone past the year and not got their stuff...its amazing....Reflektor is damn WOAH...i think it will challenge Daft Punk, Blood Oranve and Janelles positions a bit...maybe settle for 4th place but woah what an album <3....and yeah Cut COpy surprise me didnt know they had a new album out but yeah Free My Mind...interesting .

She's a year younger than Madonna. She grew up in NYC and was part of the Lower East Side scene at the same time and her music is very influenced by NYC and its culture and interesting personalities like Madonna's early music. She's been kind of out of the spotlight recently since she hasn't released an all new album since 2007. She has toured quite a bit including here and in Europe. She for some reason decided to rerecord her older songs which didn't interest me and she also wrote the music for a play in NYC. Her last album Beauty and Crime was okay, but it's my least favourite by her. It was more traditional folk music and it wasn't too successful and she was dropped by her label after it came out.
I would start out listening to her 2003 compilation Retrospective. It not only has all her singles from her albums, but album tracks as well as the Tom's Diner dance remix by DNA, Left of Center from the Pretty in Pink sound track and a live track.

Also, on the new album Suzanne is sampling 50 cent's song, Candy Shop. So both Madonna and Suzanne will have a Candy Shop song. LOL

I see the link there...ah MDNA properly makes me vent it out.....had another blast earlier today makes me feel better-er

Again grrrr at the missed opportunities...neverminded

I do miss the lack of presence of her at the moment really bt hey that will make me anticipate new stuff further.

got me thinking as to whether soon we will have some MDNA demo leaks and stuff...usually happens a couple years after album release...am intrigued as to what other material may indeed sound like .

Madonna was seen at Lourdes' high school watching her perform as Rizzo in Grease.

I am happy that she is really happy and focused its a great balance to see.

she's definitely upped her game in the media stakes and what a year it has been. her billboard awards triumph, the glaad speech/outfit, the malawi fiasco, the met ball outfit, the epix mdna movie launch, the grills-gate, the secret project/launch, the sean penn saga, the sound of change swollen-gate, the harper bazaar spread/essay, forbes begrudgingly naming her the biggest earning musician through gritted teeth no doubt, the cinema texting-gate, her further flirtations with social media and lots of quality family time, which have all been documented in the media this year.

i always feel that madonna is old school in the sense that no publicity is bad publicity and i suspect she would rather be speculated in any context, as opposed to not at all. i have to say though that a lot of the interest in her this year has been positive, like the way other artists paid tribute to her on her birthday and with the reactions to her harper bazaar essay, which has been great to witness.

she's definitely gearing up to something in my opinion. her profile has been quite notable in the media this year and she's clearly been getting herself out there a lot more.

I feel she has a lot brewing and a lot to say when she has got herself ready to show the world whatever it is.

I mean everything this year feels like a kinda cleansing/new start kinda feel in that she is at one with herself and it is pretty damn awesome to see her so happy and at one with herself for the first time in a while.

ANd i truly feel something about album 13...we shall definitely have to wait ad see where she heads next but i cannot wait for her to surprise us

And that is true the responses to her the past year have been pretty incredible to see really, great to see Madonna spoken of even when she isnt really promoting anything she kinda is too.

Never been a HUGE fan of Madonna, though I do play her Greatest Hits time to time so I suppose in some sense I'm a casual fan. That was, until last night...

I watched In Bed With Madonna (Truth or Dare) and I am a little obsessed with her now. Time to give that discography a second take!

"Sunday Driving! Practice makes perfect!". not sure what to say about that to be honest, but she seems love spending quality time with her kids and they seem to have a lot of fun together.

interestingly though and probably purely coincidental, there seems to be a recording of "i heard it through the grapevine" playing in the background. now there was that rumour doing the rounds about her covering that track....

Yes, I remember that. She was supposed to have recorded it for a Marvin Gaye biopic movie that is in the works

There are videos of Lourdes' performance online now.

She's a fairly good singer, it has to be said.

Videos and Pictures.

In some of the performance shots she really looks like Madonna. She's wearing M's old beauty mark too.

According to Perez Hilton, M and Brahim have called it quits. Hopefully she will find Mr Right next time and he will inspire her to record a great record. Part of me hopes she will get back with Sean so she will perform True Blue and Cherish again (kidding)

Oh yes, I have to say I'm a poison penns fan. They are the love of each others lives but they weren't compatible at that time. I imagine if they were to get back together now with some more maturity and life experience they would be great. I think her best work was inspired by him

according to her, the children are the loves of her life and i dare say sean feels similarly about his own kids. not forgetting the fact that sean was married 14 years to the mother of his children and madonna was also married to father of her second child for 8 years. having children during a marriage undoubtedly forms a permanent bond between couples and both the later marriages could be considered successful compared to madonna and sean's tempestuous 4 year union.

whilst its admirable that the pair of them have been able to put the past behind them and establish a friendship of sorts, i don't see there being more to it than that at this time. madonna is still a very busy woman with children to consider and while sean is probably more suitable than the dancers she's dated in recent years, i don't think her and sean make a good fit romantically.

I think they will always have a special place in each other's heart for one another, it's a case of first true love and you always hold a special place for that person. They were both such strong personalities then though and lived in a pressure cauldron. I don't think they will get back together but if they did I can imagine they would make a great go of it now they are grown up and a lot more mature. I know M likes her guys a lot younger but she's at her best when she has someone who truly gets her and pushes her buttons and that's what happened with Sean and Guy. I think Jesus and Brahim were just play things

well they both have that in common then, considering sean also dated a much younger woman following his divorce from robin. the speculation surrounding his split with scarlet also made me question his supposed maturity. the rumours were he thought she was too clingy, that he didn't want to be tied down and there were even suggestions that he wanted her to return to education. i'm not even going to get started on his turbulent marriage to robin, but it does make you wonder if he has commitment issues.

i do agree that madonna probably wasn't fully serious about her most recent relationships and she does seem to need a match intellectually to feel properly challenged in a relationship, but i don't have the same optimism that some fans do about a possible reconciliation between her and sean.

She must be sad about the break up with Brahim. She posted on instagram "The only way we know we love ourselves and the people in our life is by the agreements we are willing to make and keep."

People assume that it wasn't serious because he was younger but I think she did care for him because they did date a few years.
I don't think she should get back with Sean. It's good they can be friends not but I don't like his macho violent abusive side. I'm not as big on him as some other Madonna fans.
