I've been looking at this phone and I'm a bit confused as to what would be a reasonable price. This month's What Mobile gave £340, and Techradar had it down to £295. John Lewis want a massive £400 but Amazon seem to be the cheapest at £260 +£9p&p.

As far as I can see there is only the one 16GB version but the quoted prices seem to vary markedly.

Also, is there anywhere else that would sell it as cheaply as on Amazon (it's a third party company, not Amazon directly)?

Just to make sure here, we are talking the Nexus and NOT the Nexus 4 ? Silly question but could account for the price difference ?

AFAIK, there is nobody selling the LG Nexus 4 without contract except directly from Google.

There is actually. CPW are selling the 16GB for £389.

Considering the numbers and model variations of mobile phones it seems a reasonable question. I've had a quick check and none of them (including John Lewis) have a 4 at the end.

no it's not, the price direct from google is either highly subsidised or sold at 0 profit.

the price CPW and O2 sell it as PAYG appear to be the normal price of the device.

No it isn't, that's a massive cut from what LG wants you to pay for the device, £479 is their RRP in Europe and some places across Europe sell it for as much as just shy of £500.

No matter how good it is I think this is way too much for the Nexus 4. There are companies that will order and ship it from US where it is sold without contract for just $349.00 and probably $30-40 for shipping charges which is much less than the £500. I will look up for some of these offers and have it posted.

I agree, however somepeople will pay that so the companies will charge it.

Does that include local taxes in the US?

The Samsung Galaxy Nexus is not worth more than 300 pounds. It is a dual core phone released around this time last year. However, I certainly don't think it's worth more than about £250 due to its outdated chipset.
