First off while I want Ash to win I like Charlie and would be happy with her winning to.

But from looking around I can't understand why anybody would want to vote just based on nationality does it really matter who's British and who is American?

If anything if Charlie won just based on the fact she is British would annoy me.

I can honestly say if I was in a show like this and won based on where I was from I would refuse the win.

Why not?
If you like them both equally.
Im pretty sure that in the USofA a lot of the Americans would be voting on nationality.

I'm British and voting Ashley because I've liked her from day one. The 'celeb' panel on IACGMOOHN are backing Charlie though, purely 'because she's British.'

And that would be just as wrong

I'm voting for Ashley all the way Charlie is just really dull don't care if she is American it also didn't help that on the after show the panel were all Londoners I'm not so Ashley has to win for me a lot more entertaining

Backing Ashley because I've found her way more entertaining than Charlie

I know I just don't get it.

If I was in and doing a VT to win I would say "If anybody plans for voting for me just because I'm British then please don't bother"

It's nothing new. Biggins and Swash also won basically beause they were British.

Fear not, though, Ashley will win this.

People can vote for who they like, it is their money to do with what they wish. It really isn't important.

why?

If you like them both... why would it be wrong to back the Brit?

I'm a red-blooded Brit man and I'm voting for Ashley.
I won't mind if Charlie wins as I like her too, but I would prefer Ash...

In answer to the OP's original question, if you go through some of the older threads you WILL see some posters blatantly state that they wouldn't vote for Ashley because she was American/Non-Brit.
I've had a pop at them and so have others, but it beggars belief really ...

Because that has nothing to do with them as a person just where they happened to be born which is meaningless.

I am voting for the American because imo she is by far the better of the two finalists.

No its not, its about backing your countryman.

In the olympics I yell for the Brit.

In the football and rugby I support the home nation teams.

why does it beggar belief.

I was yelling for Wales against the all blacks last week.

One cant deny the all black are a better side but I was still supporting the Welsh as they are a British side

I had haggis tonight, its St Andrews day you know

By all mean vote for Ash if she is your fav, but if people choose to support the Brit, I cant see why that is such a big drama.

I didn't watch the Olympics but I would support whoever I thought was best I wouldn't care where they were from.

As I said to me things like that are meaningless I'm only British because I happened to be born here but that has nothing to do with who I am

To put it in context, it was at the START of the series, when people were saying they liked her, but wouldn't vote for her because of that.
That's the sort of reason that Biggins won ...

Exactly Damanda! I love both girls equally and would not be sad if either of them win but because Charlie is a Brit and she is an amazing actress who I also admire she just edges it for me for my vote. So I can see exactly where Joe and Mark are coming from, especially as they are Londoners, the same as Charlie!

So go Charlie, for the win!

So we only support the best, that silly. We support our own whereever possible, unless of course it's Usain Bolt.

Nationality shouldn't play a part but usually in reality shows over here, its both popularity and nationality what makes a winner, there's been many oversea's celebs over the years take part in our reality shows and they never seem to get this far like Ashley has, so even if she finishes 2nd that's a huge achievement.

At the end of the day, if only a Brit is allowed or guarantee to win, then why ask Americans or any other celebrities who are not British to take part in these shows? everyone should stand an equal chance imo, no matter where their from.

But it is not a bad thing if some of us are more patriotic than others! I was cheering our Brits on in the Olympics too, proud to be British!
