But it is not a bad thing if some of us are more patriotic than others! I was cheering our Brits on in the Olympics too, proud to be British!

I didn't watch the Olympics but I would support whoever I thought was best I wouldn't care where they were from.
As I said to me things like that are meaningless I'm only British because I happened to be born here but that has nothing to do with who I am Quote:
To put it in context, it was at the START of the series, when people were saying they liked her, but wouldn't vote for her because of that.
That's the sort of reason that Biggins won ... ![]() If you like them equally why would it be so bad to back the home girl or boy? |

Nationality shouldn't play a part but usually in reality shows over here, its both popularity and nationality what makes a winner, there's been many oversea's celebs over the years take part in our reality shows and they never seem to get this far like Ashley has, so even if she finishes 2nd that's a huge achievement.
At the end of the day, if only a Brit is allowed or guarantee to win, then why ask Americans or any other celebrities who are not British to take part in these shows? everyone should stand an equal chance imo, no matter where their from. |

So the poster would support someone against his own family if they were better, it doesn't make sense.
It certainly gave our country the feel good factor! So cannot be a bad thing can it?

I think thats a bit of PC nonsense to be honest James, but I respect your view, I simply think you haven't really thought it through. You make it sound like an anti racist stance.
To me all England is is the place I was born nothing more nothing less |

Yes, does seem strange but everybody to their own I s'pose. But the Olympics was amazing for me this year because it was held in this country and it was great to be able to support our own and was amazing to see both William and Kate doing the same!

I like Ashley but I will vote for Charlie because I don't want to weaken national resolve.

Some will, some won't.
I'll vote for Ashley as I prefer what we've seen of her. I vote for people, not their country, race, gender etc |

First off while I want Ash to win I like Charlie and would be happy with her winning to.
But from looking around I can't understand why anybody would want to vote just based on nationality does it really matter who's British and who is American? If anything if Charlie won just based on the fact she is British would annoy me. I can honestly say if I was in a show like this and won based on where I was from I would refuse the win.

Yes but I'd sooner walk than win based on my nationality and if that did mean giving up the money so be it

It's getting silly now. This isn't the Olympics. You can vote for who you like.
I suppose if everything else is equal, nationality could come into it but otherwise I don't see the point. It's only a TV show. |
