So the poster would support someone against his own family if they were better, it doesn't make sense.

As I said to me things like that are meaningless I'm only British because I happened to be born here but that has nothing to do with who I am”

I think thats a bit of PC nonsense to be honest James, but I respect your view, I simply think you haven't really thought it through. You make it sound like an anti racist stance.

That's the sort of reason that Biggins won ... ”

I've no idea why Biggins won. BUT I don't think its relevant to the discussion.
If you like them equally why would it be so bad to back the home girl or boy?

At the end of the day, if only a Brit is allowed or guarantee to win, then why ask Americans or any other celebrities who are not British to take part in these shows? everyone should stand an equal chance imo, no matter where their from.”

Exactly.

Well said, we are all entitled to vote for who we want to win for whatever reason!

Yes, does seem strange but everybody to their own I s'pose. But the Olympics was amazing for me this year because it was held in this country and it was great to be able to support our own and was amazing to see both William and Kate doing the same!

It certainly gave our country the feel good factor! So cannot be a bad thing can it?

I would tell my family to vote against or support someone over me if they thought that the other person was better.

I so agree, I loved the Olympics and I loved supporting all our athletes and the Paralympics too. It was amazing.

Yes, but he can be hard work, especially after his jibe some time ago about him really being a Scot and not British! Rather naughty of him but it has been known for many a Scot would rather any other team win than a England win!

I like Ashley but I will vote for Charlie because I don't want to weaken national resolve.

Some will, some won't.

I'll vote for Ashley as I prefer what we've seen of her. I vote for people, not their country, race, gender etc

Would you really? Most strange. If my sons were taking part in something I would always vote for them no matter how bad they were! I would always vote for my own over anybody!

If anything if Charlie won just based on the fact she is British would annoy me.

I can honestly say if I was in a show like this and won based on where I was from I would refuse the win.”

bet you would still take your appearance money though

Yes but I'd sooner walk than win based on my nationality and if that did mean giving up the money so be it

It's getting silly now. This isn't the Olympics. You can vote for who you like.

I suppose if everything else is equal, nationality could come into it but otherwise I don't see the point. It's only a TV show.
