Are people really going to vote based on nationality?

We'd all be speaking German if not for the Yanks. Mind you, they took their time to join in and ( continued on page 142).

They are both great, but Charlie does edge it for me. Maybe part of that is because she's British and also someone I'm familiar with from interviews and SCD, and I know for sure she is down to earth and not part of the showbiz circle.

If I was watching Andy Murray playing Federer then I would be cheering on Andy even though I love and admire Federer. There's this loyalty to our own that I can't ignore.

Although loyalty is my middle name, if Rafa Nadal is playing I always want him to win. This is because he's a fine tennis player. It has nothing to do with nationality and everything to do with his looks. Er...ops..

Mark Wright said he wanted Charlie to win because she is English. I mean really? Not based on personality or anything else?

.
The plain fact is that, if you ignore looks, nationality, Eastenders and Kiki, Ashley has been a far nicer person and a more entertaining campmate than Charlie.

I think they were all directed to seem to be thrilled about tomorrow's result. It was a bit of a giveaway I thought that they probably know the voting figures. Warming up the public to a bit of a dull result perhaps.

Nobody said that.
It doesn't matter if its been said or not by anybody, I was making my point and asking that question as an example because even if nobody has said it, there's bound to be people out there who have that opinion.

It's sad to see people would not vote for Ashley not because they don't like her but because she is not British.

People should judge Ashley on her personality, not nationality.

Yes, does seem strange but everybody to their own I s'pose. But the Olympics was amazing for me this year because it was held in this country and it was great to be able to support our own and was amazing to see both William and Kate doing the same!

It certainly gave our country the feel good factor! So cannot be a bad thing can it?
You do realise that, unlike the Olympics, there are no international plaudits for a British person winning a British tv game show?

People in France or Germany couldn`t give a shi.t if a Brit wins a British tv game show . You may think that they are in awe at the prospect of yet another British person winning a British tv game show.

But they really aren`t.

Also I thought Britain liked to root for the underdog.

Ashley was the ultimate underdog.

Would it be acceptable if it was a David/Charlie final for me to vote for Charlie because she's white, like me. Of course not and this is the same mentality.

Incidentally looking through the odds it appears that at one point Ashley was over 90/1 on betfair to win it.

If I'd had a sneaky tenner on that I'd have already gone through half the potential winnings on the phone bill.

Too many uncomfortable reminders of when S**t on the Side went to town on Michael and The Twins in the first CBB of this year

They just went all out to make sure neither would win

Ashley deserves to win as she has really put the effort in all series with no OTT histronics

She has just been herself and it would be nice to see an American finally break the duck on a UK show and actually win

That doesn't surprise me one bit seeing as Mark Wright has no personality or anything else.

I really hated that especially as the drunk and the druggie were two of the worse people I've ever seen on TV but still came before them just because they were British.

Exactly. Another example is how well Terry McDermott has been doing in the Voice US. I have no problem with nationalistic tendencies, though. Most of us are guilty of it at some time or another.

Agreed. Also, did anyone notice those ridiculous sandals he was wearing a couple days ago? I've never seen sandals like those being worn by a man.

I also find it very strange that people want Charlie to win "because she is British".

Charlie and Ashley are not representing their respective countries (as competitors do in some sporting events). They're individuals in a game show, representing themselves. Hopefully most viewers will judge Charlie and Ashley on character and entertainment value rather than their nationality.

well.... it does really matter as, because nobody has said it, your point is moot

Something of a misrepresentation of the opinion.

If one has to lie or misrepresent in order to make an argument, its most likely and argument that needs re-examining IMO.

It's not though people are saying just that Ok I would think (hope) they in the minority but they are saying it.

It is a misrepresentation of opinion. It absolutely is.

Somewhere there is always one person saying something barking... you cant state that as a generally help opinion

If its only one or two people then it's irrelevant.

People, in any number that could be considered sufficiently influential, are not saying they want her to win because she is British.

If we voted on nationality only then Ashley would have been the 1st one out surely?? *belms*

But she was in the last 2.... the last 2. let that sink in. A non British person was in the last 2.

people voted for who they wanted to win, that's all.
