Did anyone else pick up on Nicole's comment on the Now phone interview last night? She started off sounding fairly supportive, and then said, 'I see she's still cashing in on Don't Cha,' referring to when Ashley had everyone dancing to their old hit. It sounded as though she was having a sly dig at Ashley, and I thought revealed her real feelings about her.

I noticed it too.

I don't dislike Nicole, I was just trying to shed light onto why she is getting a bit of flack. I can see both sides of the coin with the PCD thing, where Nicole and the other girls are concerned. I would say its the label where any anger should be directed, unless of course Nicole herself created any dislike.

I can certainly see how some may not like her due to how she comes across and due to the PCD thing though.


Regarding the cynicism over Nicole's sudden support, she is on one of the biggest shows in the country and is getting some bad press, had shown no interest in Ashley on IAC until she reached the final.

Whether that cynicism is valid or not, I don't know. Part of me is slightly cynical but then I am slightly cynical anyway.

No, you are not. No different to Diana Ross & The Supremes; Gloria Estefan & Miami Sound Machine, Frankie Valli & The Four Seasons; etc which all started off with the main group moniker but all later added the lead singer to the moniker in preparation for the singer going solo ...

Add to the fact she's had her gran's death & funeral to contend with in the past fortnight, so causing her to fly out to America, coming back for her X-Factor weekend duties, then flying out again .....

Plus the other PCDs were not exactly falling over themselves to support her when she did and won Dancing With The Stars in 2010.

As for the Slumdog Millionaire track Jai Ho, the track was original recorded as a solo Nicole effort, but the record company thought it would be more marketable with the band name featured on the credits, so the band was included as the main act responsible it even though only Nicole's vocals from the band are on it.

Records which she never wrote and barely sang on. Records which she happily appeared in photos of the cover on.

I'm sure she got a very generous salary for her input and was probably paid a lot more than the Pussycat Dolls who weren't chosen to be in the pop group.

And I'm sure as the group got more successful her salary increased. But why should it suddenly become more equal to Nicole's, when Nicole was doing considerably more work?

She knew what she signing on for and quite happy for Nicole to create the music and be the front women. So why complain at the end? I mean when the group ended how exactly had her contribution increased from her contribution at the beginning?

Her priority was as much to herself as Nicole's were to her. Like I say I'm sure she didn't fight for Nicole to be rewarded as a soloist for the first album, despite it being pretty much a solo effort. And I'm sure she didn't refuse the rewards she received for a record they had next to no input in the creation of.

Thanks for that I'd never come across that vid before. I want Ashley to win even more after watching that. She's adorable.

All true but, the failure of the re-booted PCD clearly shows how undervalued the other 4 were at the time. If you put 5 people in a band what with Social Media, the internet etc all 5 will have fans. For me, the PCD management failed to see the value of the other girls and Nicole was happy to go along with it.

I dont doubt this kind of thing happens all the time but in this instance I feel they were wrong to put so much emphasis on Nicole but nice to see the other girls carving out careers for themselves.

I don't know how much each of the girls put into PCD, or whether they even sang at all or how they felt about the group being put together. Nor how much each got paid and whether their salary increased (and if so by how much).

None of us know that as it's not been reliably stated. From what we know from other groups and artists, labels have a tendency to financially screw people, so it's possible they may not have made too much.



However, I know enough about the music industry to know that it's highly plausible that it didn't quite work the way you have described and the way PCD broke down & from what I've read, it's probably the case that the label mislead and screwed them, or gave them little say in what happened (like it or lump it, go with it or become unemployed)

Keeping in mind, this was an already existing troupe who were taken and molded into a girl group. I doubt it was sold to them the way it panned out.

I also read something about them not being too hot on Nicole being the singer in the very beginning, something about them wanting one of the existing dancers to be the lead singer. (or something to that effect).


Just playing devils advocate and highlighting that its probably nowhere near as clean cut as you have stated.

She didnt say that at all she said "still living on on the dont cha anthem dream" She was incredibly supportive of ashley on the phone why are people lying and trying to make out nicole is some big bitch? I really like Ashley and want her to win but Ashley and the other girls were just dancers in the PCD why the hell should they get a as much as nicole did when they didnt even put there vocals on the record?

That is how I remember the interview, I'm certainly not lying, and I agree that it amounts to the same meaning.

I know nothing regarding the PCD, I only know what I see of Ashley on this show & I have to be honest & say i'm surprised she has got this far on a uk show..I'm also pleasantly surprised by Ashley & the way she comes across, What a lovely girl she is I really hope she win's this show now..Unfortunatly I don't know if thats likely to happen with Charlie being from Eastenders
Then again I suppose she has already won this show by the fact she has survived into the final..So imo she is the winner without doubt...Nicole who cares honestly what she has to say or doesn't say? The women is a complete & utter borefest & thats only from watching her on the X factor!

I took the "still living the dont cha anthem dream" comment to be a empowerment girl power thing. She definitely didnt accuse her of "cashing in on dont cha", she didnt say that anyway but why would she try and slip that in in an otherwise extremely positive and supportive phone call? I think some of you need to re watch it on i player before you start twisting comments

I don't blame Nicole for phoning in at that moment, even if there were differences of opinion in the past. Ashley was indiscreet in the remarks she made in camp, and sounding quite bitter about it all, so Nicole needed to speak up.

It doesn't mean the same thing at all.

I dont think it was indiscreet, it was a one off comment on a subject that is pretty much common knowledge. The other girls have all made similar comments to the press since the split.

I also dont think she sounded bitter. David and Charlie asked her to follow up on what she said so she did.

It was unprofessional, and perhaps it's one reason why she hasn't been hugely successful as an individual at her age (in her 30s).

Was it unprofessional to say it or for ITV to show it? In three weeks of constant contact with the celebs she makes one comment and is called unprofessional?

She's not under any kind of gag order so I think one comment in three weeks given that PCD is the reason why she's famous is pretty good going and yet more evidence of her good nature.

At last, Nicole has tweeted to ask her fans to support Ashley tonight, better late than never. I don't dislike Nicole, so I hope its genuine.
