I do think Ashley will win.
But if she doesn't we will get her fans saying it's because she is American, and Charlie is British. There is, whether you like it or not, a lot of people who like Charlie for Charlie. Which could win it for her. |

Hoping Ashley will win and break the American duck, but it all depends on the edit
If Kiki is mentioned every few minutes, Charlie may just sneak over the finish line Ashley has been the best all round package this year as she has got stuck in from day 1 without any sobbing or booing |

More likely to win it for her. People seem desperate for a first American win.

Why is OK for you to want Ashley to win because she's American, yet people are mortified at the thought of people voting for Charlie because she's British

Charlie has been equally as good, but because she isn't as loud as Ashley she often missed out on trials, the trials she had she put her all into them, plus she showed genuine care for other contestants.......I don't remember her crying or booing??? she was upset they didn't open the door to see her daughter, that's normal...When Ashley insisted she have the first phone call because her mum wouldn't know how she was doing, all the women in the camp with children, would have loved that call, but none of them including Charlie stopped Ashley from getting her own way, yet they must have known her mum could watch it on the internet.

The point being made is simply that with previous contestants who have appeared on British reality game shows who just happened to be American they didn't finish in the place that their perceived popularity would suggest they would. Americans tend to underperform based on their perceived popularity. That's all. It's not that people want her to win just because she's American. |

Who gives a care about nationality when it comes to voting? It's just a competition.
For example, when Gino D'Acampo won in 2009, he was Italian, and we didn't complain about it. I don't see any reason why nationality should stand in the way. |

Although Ashley has been shown to be a much nicer person and far more entertaining I believe Charlie WILL win because she's British.
It also helps that she's in a soap, has a cute child and has been supported by the far-from-neutral panel on ITV2. I couldn't care less where Ashley is from. I like her, not her nationality, and I think she deserves to win. Would be great for her to win as an American, and really give her confidence in herself alone and not just as part of PCD I think she has much more to gain from winning than Charlie does.

And most have never been to America. I would far rather stay there than here.

Completely agree. Quite a few British celebs supporting her too, I know Denise van Outen is backing her for example.

This is a non issue and some of the claims being made look like real straw grasping moments. |

Really? Why is that, what do you imagine is so much better?
I have been there over 40 times and I can assure you if I had the Money I would be off tomorrow. The only thing I would miss is my Family. |

I really hope not. In my opinion she absolutely deserves to win.
I don't think Charlie even deserves to be in the running at all. In my opinion, it should be David, Hugo, even Eric. I'll be really disappointed if Charlie wins, worst Q of J ever! |

Unfortunately I've read online and seen on the IAC Now show, it seems that some people are supporting Charlie over Ashley because Ashley is not British. Despite the big lead on the current "final two" poll here, do you think that it could actually cost her the win?
I hope not, it's fine not to vote for Ashley if you don't like her but not voting for her because she's not British is not right IMO. Her nationality shouldn't even come into play. |

Possibly, but at the same time, I doubt it. I even saw a couple of people, can't remember the usernames, in one of the "Who's your favourite?" threads a couple of days ago saying that she shouldn't win because she wasn't British. Though I'm sure it's a very small minority, thankfully. I'm not too bothered for an 'American win' (just an Ashley win) but if Ashley doesn't win, then I can't see an American in future ever winning the show, unless they managed to nab Johnny Depp. Highly doubtful.Quote:
Sadly - Jingoism (and in this year's show - Easterndersism) will win over genuine deservedness. Its weird that the producers without fail invite an American over to give the show some 'exoticism' and yet no matter HOW entertaining that person is - you'll never get an American winner. The ultimate example was David Gest who is possibly the most entertaining person IAC has ever had - and even he could only manage 4th place.

The only thing I would miss is my Family. 40 visits to the States doesn't come cheap... save up and go. You will find that being anywhere for the humdrum of daily life is nothing like visiting casually. Even so if I truly felt like that I'd make it happen. It's really quite easy. But don't tell anyone you are missing your family or they will say you are a stupid fake whiner who should have just stayed at home.

Ashley being American won't help matters but the main thing that'll prevent her winning is the Eastenders vote.

They'll be a lot of multi voting on the forums for Ashley,. especially on here. The armchair voters at home usually only vote one or twice, this is why I think Ashley will win.

Hope Ashley wins, whether she is British or not shouldn't make a difference.

So do you think it made a difference now that Ashley has lost?
She really deserved to win
