Does anyone else have no time for the celebrities that go on the show and spend alot of time complaining that they haven't seen there children even though they didn't have to sign up for the show and leave them, I find it really annoying!

Yes, OP, you can count me in on that one - I don't mind the odd mention as I think that's quite natural but once you're reduced to tears, it's time to call it quits.

It can annoy me. Katona uses this "me kids" approach to excess, along with the idea that being a mother gives you some kind of super-status in reality shows, as if being a parent was a rare thing.

I particularly hate the whine "I'm doing this for me kids" ( which I haven't heard in this series tbf)
The rest of us get up and go to work every day for our children but don't go on about it like we're some kind of saintly martyr. And plenty of people have to work away from home for periods of time.

Like the OP says, they don't have to do it. They do it because it's well paid, raises publicity and offers a pretty good holiday for family members.

TBF for the most part they know they can always phone or web cam them even if they don't they know the option is there in a reality show that option is gone.

Yes they can leave but the longer they stay the more work they may get to help their families.

The way Charlie goes on, you would have to think her daughter was being held hostage, drama queen.

Of course you have no idea how much they mention them by comparison to others, who cries, how much etc.
It would be very odd if during 3 weeks when they only have chat to amuse themselves people didn't talk about missing family and friends, it would also be odd if they didn't get emotional now and then.

The thing is, and its impossible to get away from this fact, that there has been relatively little mention of it on this show, so the point is exaggerated and repeated ad infinitum because (the only logical explanation I can deduce)
You don't like Charlie... I get it

Yes count me in. I don't mind them mentioning their children that's natural but if it"s done to influence the voting, well that's a different matter. Before I get jumped on, I am not saying Charlie has done this but it did make the papers about her not seeing her daughter. This could be used to influence some with the arhhhh poor Charlie voters.

No doubt anyone who has a family would miss them when separated from them for a period of time.
But I find it annoying when TV shows focus on it, on one person more than all the others, as though the person they focus on is somehow better than the others.

I think it would be natural for a contestant to mention that they miss their kids, but I hate it when the show turns it into a featured storyline.
I also think in some cases the celebrity in question may even capitalize on it and play up to it. Not that I'm saying this is true in Charlie's case.

I've now grown to loathe the letters from home thing, and the winning a free phone call that you see on these reality game shows.

It's probably less to do with the celebrity and more about how the TV show itself tries to cynically manipulate the viewers with such a lazy tear-jerker of a trick to elicit emotion from them. If the show is good enough it doesn't even need to resort to this thing. I've always hated it in IAC and I thought they'd done a really good job of avoiding it this year, up until about a week ago when they decided to make it a featured running story.

All it does is encourage future contestants who watch the show what they need to do to give them an advantage if they were ever invited onto the show. Just compete with the other celebrities by showing the viewer that you miss your kids more than they miss theirs.

The whole 'princess Kiki ' thing is really annoying!

When parents are on the show I expect them to miss their children. As long as they don't make a song and dance about it that's fine. I remember Kerry blubbing every chance she got. This year we had Colin, Linda and Charlie mention it but then they moved on and got on with the show. Same with Stacey Solomon. Unless they ban parents from the show it will always happen.
