Hi everyone.

I was just wondering how much your dog slept.

I have a 5 year old 'La Chon', Bichon Frise and Lhasa Apso and I'd say she sleeps for about half the day. (In different intervals).

But is otherwise happy and playful when awake, and generally is healthy.

Mine are getting on now and sleep about 85/90 % of the time, if they didn't have to go for a wee and eat they would be quite happy sleeping round the clock. Happy and healthy but knackered

Haha! Well, that sounds like me! I feel a bit better now!

Everything my dog (shih tzu) does seems to be punctuated by a nap. Wake up, eat, nap, play, nap, walkies, eat, nap, play, sleep. He's perfectly healthy, gets lots of walkies and play time and snuggles but he just loves to sleep! Nothing to worry about!

Feeling much better now thanks! I've only had her full time for a year, and before that I 'dog sat' her every now and then for the previous year..... so she's always been like this but thought I'd check!

My dog would sleep all day if she could!

She's a very super active Jack Russell, gets plenty of walks and plays with toys but she loves nothing better than sleeping on my couch blanket. She is warm though and I've avoided putting the heating on for a good few nights so far!!

As I have said before I have a lurcher with a lot of Greyhound in her and true to the breed sleeping is what she enjoys best.
She sleeps most of the time when not out for a walk but that is normal for the breed. :sleep:

Aren't dogs meant to sleep for about 17 hours of the day anyway, left to their own devices?

My dog is now so old and sleepy that I can actually walk into the house through two noisy doors, throw my keys on the carpet, walk into her [my] bedroom and check she's ok, boil the kettle, make some lunch...and then, only then, will she look up, blink, yawn, stretch, and come and greet me

You've got to love old dogs!
