...he sang I Look To You at his brothers funeral in 2008?

As in the song that Whitney Houston released in 2009?

Maybe it was on an Album before she released it as a single.

He claimed to have sung this song at his brother's funeral in 2008, but the title track song to Whitney's 6th & final album did not come out until August 2009:

Exactly bazztheman. R Kelly sang this song first nearly ten years ago saying he wrote it for Whitney to sing and record. Whitney fans had been waiting for years to hear her perform it.

I've always thought it was a gospel song.....well known in USA and among the black churches in Britain.

As someone else said R Kelly wrote it well before Whitney released it. R Kelly then sang it at Whitney's funeral last year, so Jahmene beat him to that one

Jahmene is a huge Whitney fan, he was undoubtably singing her version. R Kelly made a demo 10 years prior but it was never released to the public. Strange...
