If you're talking about me I was just honestly asking, I didn't think I'd heard it right. I'm a huge Jahmene fan.

I actually like Jahmene and don't wish him any bad whatsoever, but I'm also a huge Whitney fan and know for a fact that her version was the first to be released to the public in the summer of 2009. Perhaps Jahmene got mixed up and meant to say 2009. Who knows.

Now that is far more plausible.

As a music fan who (secretly) likes Whitney Houston I knew that song came out in the autumn of 2009, so when Jahmene went on about singing it at his brother's funeral in 2008 ... my brain understandably thought ... did I miss hear ... checked on DS, and saw that I didn't and then thought ..... what he said can't be right ....

And in his VT he didn't mention Whitney anyway....or her version of the song!! R Kelly wrote/sung it and gave it to whitney to sing...and he sung at her funeral too

So Jahmene heard the song from RK 1st imho!!!

Exactly, all these conspiracy theories are so stupid. People would rather debate and argue than come to the logical conclusion that maybe he himself made the mistake?
P.S. R Kellys demo was NEVER released before Whitney's. Don't mess with my Whitney knowledge, just don't do it lol .

Look I understand why people would be confused because alot of people in the UK don;t follow the gospel circle of music. However I Look to you has been known to gospel followers before Whitney, she helped to intensify its prominence in the gospel world because the song was written for her in relation to her troubles. Its understandable

But someone has just posted a link of R Kelly singing it from over 6 years ago, so you are wrong

It wasn't released though, I doubt Jahmene based his brother's funeral song on a leak demo found on daily motion. I'm not saying he's lying, he most probably got the year mixed up in his VT.

The date of my sister's suicide is indelibly ingrained on my brain. I doubt he'd make a mistake about this

Well no I'm far from a gospel expert. However I am a huge Whitney fan, and all you have to do is listen to Jahmene on the xtra factor to realise he is too. All the gospel songs he ever mentions are all whitney covers such as 'This Day" and "A Quite Place".

My intention here was to correct people who were wrongly quoting Whitney facts, not to down Jahmene.

Is it possible that R Kelly or Whitney sang it at a concert prior to releasing it in 2009 and that Jahmene heard it there?

Can't believe that jahmene would get the year in which his brother died/funeral service wrong....so he MUST have heard the song prior to the whitney release in 2009!!!

Why would he feel silly? Everything he said was factually correct, the song was released commercially for the first time in 2009. If it turns out that the song was actually well known in gospel circles before that then fair enough but you can hardly blame him for not knowing that if he doesn't listen to gospel music. If anyone should feel silly, it is the ones screaming "CONSPIRACY THEORY " without posting evidence to back up their rage.

He was too keen and too quick to assume the worse because he wanted to put the boot in. He clearly lacked enough knowledge to be sure of his facts, but didn't let that stop him.

Can anyone provide proof the song is popular in Gospel circles? I saw the video of R Kelly singing it in 2007 but he doesn't sing the entire song. Jahmene intented to sing the whole song at his brother's funeral but could only manage a verse and a chorus. Surely that's all he could have sang anyway if he was singing the R Kelly version from the video. Not to say anyone is lying but certain things don't add up and it's fine to question them until we have answers. If the song is popular in Gospel circles there must be a video of someone singing it in it's entirety prior to 2008 and 2009. If that proof is provided then Jahmene will be shown to be telling the truth and people can let it go.

Sorry, lets see, the song was commercially released September 2009. FACT!!!!

It now turns out from Swindon's Evening Advertiser, that Jahmene's brother's funeral took place in November 2009.

So it's conspiracy theorist nutjobs like yourself who are looking silly now, because exactly as I thought Jahmene was not lying, but got the year wrong.

I expect a full and profuse apology for falsely accusing me of attacking a fellow Swindonian.
