Unlike a lot of the sob stories in the past he is playing on it week after week

I agree. Yes it's sad and I feel sorry for him but he subtly works it into EVERY VT, and it's tiring now. To be fair, this week called for it seeing as it was a dedication song but there was no need every other time.

Last week: My father beat my mum. this week: my dead brother.

They're really pulling it all out the bag.

He didn't come into the competition intending to talk about his past and the theme this week was something personal.

No doubt he'll tell us the vicar at his local church tried to bum him when he was 10...

Perhaps you need to familiarise yourself with what has exactly happened in Jahmenes life and try to put it into context.

Also jahmene (and other contestants) are not responsible for which bits the producers want to show on a Saturday night......even so, none of what Jahmene has been through could ever amount to a sob story.

Every show like this milks any sob story that there is about any of the contestants. The producers aren't doing anything more or less with Jahmene than they would do with anyone else in a similar situation.

It is a shame that the public allow their votes to be swayed by sob stories though

Do you not think that your post is particularly sick and nasty considering what happened?

Possibly, but we have heard what happened far too many times. My post was tongue-in-cheek, all I want to hear Jahmene do is sing now. Sob stories are for the top 10, not top 4.

You clearly have absolutely no understanding of what he has been through or any insight into his character, as you wouldn't say such ridiculously spiteful things. You make yourself look far worse than you make him look. .

Sorry, but he's a TV talent show contestant. Why should we understand what he's been through or have any insight into his character? We're supposed to be watching X-Factor to be entertained, not to try to understand what the contestants went through as kids or what they're like in real life.

Including an embarrassed smiley doesn't magically make your post clever or tongue-in-cheek

Making light of sexual abuse is an odd choice. You've presumably watched the programme often enough to know there is always a bit of vt before each contestant sings. If you just want to hear Jahmene sing..switch off or turn the sound down whilst the vt is on then switch back on for the performance

I live in Ireland so haven't seen a lot of the press about what exactly happened to Jahmaine and his family. I'm not a fan of his but I think quite a few people are. Sure some people probably vote on the back of the contestants back story but do you really think Jahmaine is less talented/ less deserving than Christopher?

Oh get over yourself.

edit - you can't even spell his name properly so don't get all sanctimonious with me. It's JAHMENE, not JAHMAINE.

I know he's had a lot of bad stuff happen in his life, but I do agree with the OP that there is too much focus on that.

I think Jahmene would have fitted in much better on the American version of X Factor, because they are less cynical in the USA than we are, and also the type of music he likes to sing is very American in style.

I don't think that he's comfortable talking about the bad thing that have gone on in his life and he never mentioned any of it until the press got wind. So IMO he's been told to ham it up by the producers.

It makes me sick.my poor aunty has a dying husband and a daughter, she is on the brink of a breakdown and he is milking all these sob story,s for all its worth.in life we all have tragedy but we dont cash in on it,i dont care if people think im hard,i am far from it.

I don't think he's milking it. For someone so young to have gone through so much tragedy it is hard and understandable that when you are on a massive talent show the media will find out and publish stories. This week all contestants had a song dedication, not Jahmene's fault his story happens to be the most harrowing.

Their private lives shouldn't come into it.It's almost become a competition for who's had the worst life .

I agree.

And he comes across as being the most genuine contestant ever. It's what happened to him - it's who he is. He cant seperate any of it from who he is as a person. That comes across on the show and I really dont get the people who watch the show and cant see that.

The most important thing however is that he is a fantastic singer...the words actually mean something when he sings.
