This will probably sound harsh but if he really wanted to sing a song for his brother so badly then he's had plenty of chances to do it before in the competition so why delay it knowing that he could have been eliminated before getting the chance to do it?

I like a happy Saturday night but this show is getting more and more miserable by the minute.

Because THIS WEEK was dedications and every contestant had to dedicate a song to someone.

Yes I do realise that. But if it was really important for me to sing a song for my brother, I would sing it in the first week. I would not keep it held back until the semi-final because I might not make the semi-final

They are meant to do a dedication ...he choose his brother, I would do the same.

Because then he would have been accused of shoving sob stories down our throats like he is now even though he was just dedicating a song to his dead brother

Nothing like a sob story to bring the votes in.

Do you actually know what happened? His brother took his own life because of everything going on in their family!!

I too am becoming irritated by the ongoing saga of "The shit life of Jahmene Douglas"

But the themes may have stood in his way. What do you expect, him to dedicate a song to his brother during ABBA week?

It's no different to Union J dedicating one of their songs to their family in the armed forces.

I am far more concerned with his boring warblings

Look, fact is, just about every single person in this forum could come up with a sob story from their own lives. I could do many for myself, if you can't yet, you will be able to at some point. XF knows this, so they are the ones that push for every tiny detail in all the contestants lives, weather they like it or not, large or small, and exploit, exploit, exploit. Don't blame any single contestant for having had a rough time in life, blame XF for pushing it to the limit.

Week 1 was musical heroes and Week 2 was "Love and Heartbreak" week, it would have fit in just fine then.

He did not wait until the competition, he clearly said he sang it at his brothers funeral

That was one week.

Jahmene has a new one every single week.

How incredibly nasty can posters be? He is a shining example of surviving a horrible childhood and if he inspires even one child or adult who is going through something similar then that's great.
I think some posters should be ashamed of themselves.
He's a brave young man. Can't you see that even if you don't like his singing?

I'm sorry for Jahmene and all his trouble, but personally I think it's absolutely disgusting to exploit dead relatives in order to get votes. Maybe Jahmene doesn't realise what's happening, but the producers of the show are rubbing their hands together. You literally can't get on the show these days unless you've got a sob story.

I think it is disgusting when people accuse Jahmene of exploiting his dead brother without knowing all the facts. Vile assumptions are being made.

I agree.. This is a disgusting post- how could ANYONE want to exploit the bereavement of a loved one??? Accusing Jahmene of doing this- when he was clearly heartbroken while singing that emotional song is so cruel.

I am so shocked at some of the attitudes on this forum- Its really quite upsetting

Totally agree. He is talent with a purpose.. Sadly so many children around the world are going through unthinkable trauma and torture at home- Jahmene is giving them an outlet- and hopefully given others the strength that he obviously had.

I was thinking that's what the fms could do, to clear the air as it were, but not in this Thread or Forum, as it doesn't belong here, but GD forum could be used for that purpose, if a fm or fms chose to inform the world of their grim past. As I say, it's just an idea.

It's a competitive reality show on Saturday night, it's not a counselling session.

Jahmene has exploited his past for votes. They all do it, he just does it more than the others.
