But it does annoy me how Jahmene is publicising all his difficulties to get votes.

Sometimes people posting here say that it is not Jahmene, it is the producers who are milking his past but tonight Jahmene himself kept referring to his background - as he has consistently done. I know so many people who have come to terms with their traumas in private and act with dignity in public so I cannot help thinking that Jahmene is immature and not at all inspirational, as he seems to think he is.”

So if Jahmene is promoting himself for monetary gain why has he donated money he has received to Donestiv Violence organisations, why does he write to other youngsters suffering pain to offer them hope?

If you were really volunteering and helping people you would be more compassionate and understanding and backing Jahmene to push forward his positive message.

Jamene doesn't need the sob story to sell his talent

I don't enjoy any of his performances. I've never liked vocal acrobatics. Sing the song or don't sing it. I haven't got the patience for singers who dance around a note, string out single words and shriek to the high heavens. His performance of ''I Look To You'' was cold and technical. I didn't sense any emotion behind it. He did better with ''At Last'' but it had its failings too. I can see why they play up the sob story every week. It gives people something to connect with emotionally since his performances are too staged and technical to do so.

Jahmene is a walking sob story. It's as if his life was so bad that third world families will feel relieved if they hear of it.

He should join The Voice USA. Christina Aguilera would love to coach him.

It still comes across as 'Look at me, I'm such a good person. I give to charity and I write to youngsters in pain.' Some people give to charity and help others without having to let everyone know about it.

I think he's a decent young lad who will look back on all this and cringe at himself and may feel very ashamed one day to have used his deceased brother to try and gain votes on a ridiculous TV show.

Is that actually meant to be funny?! Because it surely is not. How rude & insensitive. No one knows what is round the corner for anyone- so I suggest you develop a bit of sensitivity.

Well it's sad that actual genuinely kind people are berated for being kind & caring! What a strange world we live in. He's doing a good thing by helping others, donating to charities & using his popularity to raise awareness for issues important to him yet he is being slated for it??

He will look back & be proud of himself that he has been able to do this in his brothers' honour and has nothing to 'cringe' about as you so put it.

Some folks really do love to 'take the mick' and berate acts who go out of their way and campaign for a good cause, based on tragic events happening in their lives!! When it comes to 'professional. Celebs' having a go on other acts on National TV though, its seen to be the norm (rolls eyes)!!

Absolutely mind bloggeling....and I'm being calm when I say that too!

Sweetie, I've been in the third world a lot. Some have been through worse, but they don't feel the need to wear their problems on their sleeves, unlike Jahmene, who reminds me of XF USA's Stacy Francis, tbh.

Erm, some people are just sick of his constant sob stories, that's all. No one is attacking him as a person.

He just needs to lay off the sob stories.

It's not a sob-story for him, he was just going by the rules of the current week's theme. I'm sure if my brother died before I went on X Factor, and a dedication song theme came up while I was still a contestant, I would have sang too, and I don't blame him for getting emotional mid-performance, when you're caught up in the moment that's what happens. It was better than Christopher Maloney singing to his nan, anyway.

Regarding the actual sob-story format that keeps happening to Jahmene... Blame producers, not him. He's just asked questions in an interview and producers turn it into a sob story. That have to make something interesting for each contestants VT. For Christopher, it's the constant hatred, for Rylan it was the continuous feud with Barlow etc. This is just Jahmene's.

Most ludicrous comment I have heard yet sweetie. Those poor souls in the third world don't have a voice, simples.

Jahmene does, so is using it in a positive way.

What a shame some people are so tainted by modern life they can't see, or take time to care, about the good in people.

Sick to the back teeth of Jahmene and his weekly ongoing angst. He saved the best for last night, and no disrespect whatsoever, but all traumas that have occurred in Jahmene's life are bugger all to do with US and NOTHING to do with the competition so keep them to yourself and just come out and sing !!!

The week in week out "feel sorry for me" face is getting on my bloody nerves now. Nicole's hysteria as well was gut churning in the middle of it all. I note not a hint of mascara run happened during her "tears".

I don't rate him hugely anyway, but this trait of his has turned me off him completely. James Arthur to win now...... he is a stand out contestant, superb.

This thread has been derailed. It's not about his motivation, who cares!

This thread is for people who wish to complain about his constant use of sob stories. People who want to come in here and bully people who have an opinion can go and start their own thread.

God imagine the sob stories he comes out with next week in the final.

Next week will probably have a few more abuse stories and a synthesis of all the sob stories that have been used previously.

I know .
He is doing everything for the right reasons .
He has never done it to get votes and only the cynical would think that .
Also he hasn't made a penny out of his life story .
He is raising money for charity and raising awareness .
He is an absolute credit

He can do this outside a competition. Will he sink into oblivion immediately so that he can rationalize exploiting his own past for sympathy? For now, he should continue (over)singing his way through the competition.
