You can wow all you like, but give me 'sob stories', or definition of, anyday - to 'romantic fantasy'.

I wouldn't condone either, but, in my opinion, the former is definitely preferable to the latter.

I just want to hear good performances, and, in my book, Jahmene gives us that.

In my book, he gives us uncontrolled out of tune caterwauling. The endless sob stories don't help either.

I'm sure all sob stories on the actual show are producer driven anyway. There have been even accounts of contestants feeling very uncomforable at being forced to discuss their private lives on air. Not sure if that's the case with Jahmene, but last night' VT would have been 100% a producer idea.

I remember that Daniel with the dead wife complaining about this a few years ago after the show ended. Expect Jahmene to distance himself from this as well.

Not so. It was a genuine question as I have no investment in X Factor at all. I don't care who wins since Lucy Spraggan and lately Rylan Clark left, although I didn't vote and haven't been able to until this weekend. I sharn't be voting this weekend or next weekend. Your interest is in Jahmene and that's fine. Good luck.

I said ID look like schoolboys, not UJ.

But in general, they are getting younger every year. Both were put together - and if you believe it was for musical ability, what can I say.

Indeed. He's not the only one. James Arthur was bleating on about his hitherto miserable life. But they were desperate enough to sell their dignity and privacy (and that of their family) on the promise of a record deal. And yes - quelle surprise - none of them want to go back to their anonymous minimum wage lives. They want money and fame and the chance to make a living doing what they enjoy. Who'd have thought it?

What was the sob story of:

- Rylan
- Ella (being ONLY 16!! doesn't count)
- District 3
- MK1
- Lucy

?

Apparently once you sign a contract with them, you are giving them full editorial control over your depiction. You could refuse to co-operate with their sob stories of course on the live shows, but then they would give you the Janet Devlin and Christopher treatment.

"I am sick and tired of untalented boybands straight off a conveyor belt every year. They get younger by the year.." was what I was replying too.

I am sure Union J weren't put together for their *musical ability" otherwise George wouldn't be in there, however, they have given us the most accomplished and consistently best singer in the competition , in the form of Jaymi.

No one's putting a gun to their heads. It's up to them to open their mouths and talk. Unless, of course, those meddling producers dub their voices with impersonators!

I think he should go solo.
If only I was younger and a different sex! Sigh...

Okay, what about Union J? Chris "had the shakes" and loves his nan but no sob story to speak of. James' constant angst is hardly a sob story and this is the first we've heard of his unhappy childhood in a VT.

The story came out very early in the competition. It's been mentioned in the media on a regular basis throughout the competition. It was mentioned again last night. The X-Factor bods need to stop using contestants' sob stories and encourage contestants to let their talent do the talking.

Do you think the producers read forums like this? If so they must surely realise they are peeing people off. It's just too obvious a tactic. Plus when they over egg it, there is a chance of backlash against performers.
I want to hear the bare minimum about their 'private' lives thank you very much. If I buy their music or go to see them it will not be on account of tragic family circumstances, because they don't want to go back to Tesco or because they are doing it for their nan or the family dog...
In fact I have an idea for a new show. Wait, it's coming, yes - The Voice!

I could be interesting if Jahmene is in the sing-off tonight.

He most certainly will. ITV like Rylan and want him to stick around. A stint on the morning show for a week will be a testing ground and he'll pass with flying colours. Rylan is on TV to stay the course.

Apparently according to Dermot and all other voices there is no sing off tonight. It's all down to voters' choice.
