It was a stupid comment. Who has less than a year's gap in between each studio album? I know the Beatles did in the early 60s, but no one does any more.

Perhaps he meant he would have enough material for 3 albums, or one would be a live album or something. I think it's more likely though that he just didn't think that comment through at all.
