Christopher hasn't got a sob story.

He loves his nan.

Jahmene had a violent father and his brother died young.

Christopher is not a "lad". He is, or should be, a man. Kids of 18 have fought and died in wars and he's pretending to brick it on a talent show? Ridiculous nonsense.

yes they have, but who says Chris would not have the bottle to fight, or that soldiers wouldn't have nerves in a talent show? Different things freak out different people.

Jahmene had never mentioned his family troubles until one of the newspapers picked up on it after digging. Chris has from the beginning, milked 'me nerves' and 'me nan'. Jahmene has an exceptional talent, Christopher has to lower most songs to make sure he hits the high notes and often has to begin in a key thats really too low for him (hence the wobbly tones in the first verses).

Jahmene's major fault during the competition has been not engaging enough emotionally with the songs but he totally overcame that tonight. Chris might sell decent numbers of one album but will never be more than a club or cruise ship performer after that.

Are you saying everybody hasn't been going on about ( your words ) Christopher and his Nan?

I don't think Jahmene has had half the stick Chris has had in that sense..

Jahmene has a heartfelt past. He's dealt with it admirably.

Thank you for your sensible post. I completely agree with you. Jahmene is a nice lad, but he does not emotionally connect with his audience. Nobody really has done in this X-Factor series, they're a very poor lot in general.

Jahmene is too busy connecting with his purity ring to bother connecting with the audience.

I haven't paid attention to any sob story from Maloney. I thought he was just uncomfortably attached to his nan. Oh, and he fake 'n shakes once in a while when he remembers to.

That's an opinion and many, myself included, would disagree with you. I think that Chris is the better singer of the two. Jahmene has a nice voice but is in no way accomplished. He certainly is not an exceptional talent.

By sharing it with the nation, or to put it another way, selling it for votes. He did not have to discuss such painful and personal matters with the nation. He chose to do that. He might not be able to control what the newspapers unearth and write about but he can choose not to discuss it on a light entertainment TV programme.

I'm sure many people would disagree with me on that, but not anybody with any musical knowledge. I've never heard Jahmene have to start a song an octave lower than it should be. He does have other faults, but all could be overcome with training as he does have the instrument. Chris doesn't.
