Proves an American will never win a reality show here
Ashley this year, Adam in BB13, Jermaine in CBB5, Janice Dickinson in IAC, etc... they all came 2nd. In the final, the British or in CBB5 case (an Indian) wins.

The Brits will never vote a Yank
. If it was going to be done it would have been done this year. Although I like Charlie, she was no where near as good as Ashley.

Yeah, I think that was the only time it was ever gonna happen. Can't see another yank making it that far again. Shame but she did well to come 2nd. Encouraging to know it was probably quite close in the end.

It did make me think about when Janice came second (robbed!). Strange how the bookies had Ashley odds on favourite and they don't get much wrong.
I liked both of them but would have preferred Ashley to win. |

The problem is that the final averages about a million more viewers than the other episodes, which means there are a lot of people voting in the final who haven't watched the show previously, people who won't have a clue who Ashley was or what she'd been like.

I really wanted Ashley to win just to prove, mainly to myself, that everything was on level-footing, unbiased and there wasn't any prejudice there.
Oh dear. ![]() Feels a bit of a flat ending in the general scheme of things. |

It's odd, they make up 60% of our popular culture, the amount of Americanisms in our vocabulary grow every week and our singers sing in their accents, yet we spit at the mere mention of them.

I agree there is too many "we have to vote for our own" ignorance going on in this country and not to mention that Americans are not well liked

Agreed, that's what swung it and that's unfair. Annoying, they probably thought "Who the hell is this American? Oh look... I'll vote Janine!" despite not watching the show.

Janice should have won over Biggins...
Whilst I don't think Ashley put a foot wrong, she had a strong competitor in Charlie. She was leading the vote up until the last hour but Charlie's reaction to the eating trial managed to get her a boost in votes. Ashley didn't particularly have a reaction to the trial... she just got on with it "David style." |

She came second above how many other brits? Certainly proved something, maybe people just liked Chrlie more.
I think the more accurate reason that's already been provided is that when it came down to it, Charlie is more well known in this country and would have attracted the casual vote which always comes into play during the final. Don't really think it's a prejudice issue; we voted Ashley into the final after all, over the likes of David Haye, so people clearly liked her and actively supported her. I'm still disappointed but there's not much one can do about that really. I'm still glad she got that far. |

Possibly clutching at straws here but I remember American actress Linda Evans winning Hell's Kitchen a few years ago. So that's something I guess. |

It's understandable that's how it goes. It has happened often and the trend doesn't look like stopping.
At the end of the day, Ashley has gained lots of fans from this, probably the most upbeat, fun, fearless and bubbliest female contestant I'm a Celebrity has seen. |

Well its not easy for anyone to win this show if they are up against an Eastenders/Corrie soap star or a boy band member.
Have a show without either of those - and an American might win! |
