On the flip side, I thought Charlie had much more about her and stood up well to Eric, Rosemary and David at various stages. She didn't play it nearly as safe as Ashley did.

I also think that Ashley was pushed HARD by Ant and Dec and was given a huge amount of camera time, and the meddler's task - which was her 'funny' moment. I thought, on the whole, Charlie was far wittier.

Finally, I don't think it was very nice of her to hang Nicole Scherzinger out to dry like that. Most people on here applauded her for it, but it struck me as quite mean spirited.”

I'd forgotten about her comments on Nicole. The favourites are always forgiven on here.

Your post on THIS thread suggests that the only reason she won is because she is British. It's a fundamentally flawed argument because there were 11 other British people in there. I don't recall your post from another thread - on this thread I put yours in with the others because they were being incredibly simplistic in their analysis of Charlie's win - in my opinion.

She's the right winner because that's who those who actually vote chose.
I slightly preferred Ashley, but the result was Charlie. So, unless anyone can show a pile of Ashley votes dumped in a virtual skip, Charlie must be the right winner.

Cant believe people are still debating whether the winner was a worthy one or not :yawn::yawn:

Absolutely. I liked Ashley but I thought she could be a little snide, albeit done with a smile, and had a selfish streak.

I loved both but always preferred Ashley until the last trial when they had to eat all that nasty stuff. Charlie was hugely entertaining in that which made it neck and neck for me so didn't mind who won.

Charlie won due to: (a) EE fan base vote; (b) Kiki.

I think it was really close, as Dec did say it was, anyway I am happy Charlie won as I like her, but I did want Ashely to, and I did vote for her, loads I havn't lost any sleep over it, and just in case anyone wanted to know I had a lovely dream about Ashley, that's all I am saying

plus (c) she has watched the programme every year since it started so had a massive advantage over Ashley by virtue of the fact that she knew how to "play the game in order to win".

It's not MY winner but I'm not that surprised that she won, put it that way.

Sometimes it's easy to get caught up in the digital hype but Charlie winning shows that there's still a great swathe of the public who don't communicate their opinions on twitter, forums, newspaper comments etc. They just phone in and vote for the they like, who they relate to and Charlie was the more relatable.

At least he was funny, big hearted and had a great personality all sadly lacking in Charlie .

So Charlie won purely due to the EE viewers' votes? If that theory is correct then Helen would have made it to the final due to the CS viewers' votes. It didn't happen, thankfully, because Helen didn't deserve it whereas Charlie did, she was the first to try to knock some sense into Helen and it worked, the camp finally got some food.

No! Don't you ever watch the 'inside soap' awards - Corrie hardly ever wins anything because Corrie fans just don't vote in the same numbers as EE fans do. Possibly because they're more careful with the money. Also - Janine is one of the most popular characters in EE and Charlie is one of the show's favourite actors. Rosie is almost universally disliked even amongst Corrie fans - and Helen as an actress isn't much liked by the Corrie fans. If anything - her going on was an embarrassment to the show - much like the even more disliked Anthony Cotton last year.

Janine was largely responsible for this year's QOTJ - not Charlie Brooks.

BTW - I like Charlie Brooks in EE - and was hoping for great, funny things from her in this year's show - BOY was I disappointed. She could have sent a glass eye to sleep.

I guess people see different things but I always found Ash to be very open and a generally kind and perceptive person.

I found Charlie, on the other hand, to have quite an unkind streak. I can imagine that Helen could be annoying and selfish (though personally I like Helen!) but Charlie seemed to really warm a bit too much to her subject when talking about her in a negative way. For me Charlie had no charisma and both Ash and Helen did - and Rosemary, for that matter!
